About this listen

Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood - the blood of Olympus - in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it mightbe able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

Fantastic. Credits well spent

I finally finished this series, I am completely happy with the way Rick finished it, yet left it open to future chapters. If you ate reading this review trying to decide whether or not to start listening to these books, it really moves. Never a dull moment. His stories never disappoint or lag at all.

Love this series

Would you listen to The Blood of Olympus again? Why?

Will have to listen to this again. The narration was not the best, all characters have the same voice. Found myself not sure who was doing what, and getting confused about what was going on. With this many characters it is important that the narrator has a clear discernible voice for each character, this narrator did not.

What aspect of Nick Chamian’s performance would you have changed?

See above

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I love your books but…

There needs to be more Percy and Anabeth. You absolutely can’t replace Anabeth with Piper 🤮. Anabeth and Percy are to important to leave off the way you did. You have to do a big follow up with them. And make sure they are the most important. I think that they should have killed Gia together. Also they need more recognition for all things they did in Tartarus. I do like Hazel and Frank though. But WE NEED MORE PERCY AND ANABETH.

Amazing book.

Wow, such a great ending to a OUTSTANDING series! I love it soooo much. I feel I have lost many great friends when I think about this being the end of Percy Jackson and his friends. Rick did such an amazing job, he is a man that I look up to. That being said the reader was not very good. Honestly I think I am being a little to generous giving his performance 2 stars, but the book was so good that it did not bother me that much.

Easy listen, and good ending

Story was of secondary characters. Liked the change of pace. Ending was good. Would like to see one more book a few years and stories later. Hopefully not the last of Percy and friends.

Very Good but had the potential to be better

Would you listen to The Blood of Olympus again? Why?

Yes, because I love all the characters.
My favorite book from the saga was 'The Son of Neptune'.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Blood of Olympus?

When Percy and Jason met KIM, and also when Jason took Piper to the rooftop and kissed her under the stars. I missed something memorable like that for Percy and Annabeth too, after all, they have become very dear to our hearts, and their end was so...blah...

What three words best describe Nick Chamian’s performance?

I personally prefered Joshua Swanson. Why wasn't he the narrator for this book?
I don't know why, but Nick got worse on this book. He sounded better on 'The House of Hades'.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, because I wanted to know how they were going to defeat gaea. However, Riordan made it very predicatable - maybe he felt guilty about all the past cliffhanders on other books or sth. Even if being in the middle of the book, you already knew what was going to happen in the end. Leo. Calypso. However, Festus? I didn't see it coming!

Any additional comments?

Gaea's ending could have been something more memorable. I thought it was a little dull. Good, but dull.
