About this listen

Nearly a year after the dramatic events at the Roebling Suspension Bridge, the otherworldly citizens of Cincinnati are settling into the new state of affairs. O'Flanagan's has become the hub of fae activity in the area, under the watchful eye of troll Evangeline Kane. But other sentinels of the city also frequent the bar, including gargoyle Kalila Storm.

When a string of robberies threatens mortals and fae alike, Kalila and her partner, Declan, must track down those responsible. But just when they think they've uncovered the truth, they find that the web of deceit stretches even farther than they could ever have imagined. And as if that wasn't enough, Kalila is at war with herself over her inexplicable new attraction to a mortal woman.

This book is set in the same universe as The Bridge series by Erik Schubach.

A great listen for the genre!

Any additional comments?

I like the worlds created by Erik Schubach, complete with sweetly romantic love interests. I believe this is Victoria Cobretti's first book, and for a first-timer, the book was great. If you've read or listened to other books by Erik Schubach, this book fits neatly into his worlds and style. The romance between Kalila and Maggie is sweetly engaging as they move slowly toward each other. And the conflict happening fits neatly into the bigger plot twists of The Bridge: Traitor, indicative of the collaboration between the two authors. In fact, it was fun to see how the two books intersect and to see those intersections from both sides of the characters. I also read this book, so listening to it in Hollie Jackson's voice just made things even better. I might start using her voice in my imagination while I'm reading his books from now on. All in all, this book is light and entertaining, something I've come to expect from Erik Schubach's books. I look forward to reading more books by Victoria Cobretti.
