About this listen

In Fall of Angels, the sixth installment of the Saga of Recluce series, L. E. Modesitt, Jr., introduced the engineer/smith Nylan, the only man among the leadership of the company of "angels" marooned on a high plateau in the west of Candar, and perhaps the one person most responsible for their survival. But the angels are a matriarchal band, and so Nylan must leave his companions and seek a life elsewhere. He travels down from the plateau into the world of warring kingdoms and strange magics with his companion, Ayrlyn, the healer, and his infant son. They are in search of a place to lead a peaceful life, but they look different from the locals, and their talents are most valued in battle - and so the war between chaos and order begins again.

Enjoying this series

I like this series, how it moves around in time and tells different parts of the full story. The narrator is good, I smile occasionally when he has to make the various sounds that the author likes to write into his books.

This recording is in better shape some of the earlier books. Only 1 "change the cd now" was left in when it was adapted to download format.

A great continuation.

Feels like the final book of the series. It pulled things from all the other books.

Interesting choices with the accents.

I love the story itself but am so distracted by the incredibly strange choices in voice acting. You want to read characters with accents, fine, but make it make sense. All the women of the Winterlance had the same accent, despite not all being from the same planet, let alone country. But Nylan has an American accent? Lornians sound like British gentry which is an odd choice, but the decision to make all of the Cyadorans have German accents, omg... this isn't the 60's, German doesn't = evil. I cringed so hard when I heard them, it's distractingly bad.

The Chaos Balance

The book and reading were well done, but getting rid of the "this CD has ended" interruption should be taken care of!
