About this listen

Elseerian, book one: The assassination of heroes was once a warning...for an invasion that nearly destroyed the world. Nations were slaughtered, cities were erased from existence, and defending armies were crushed into oblivion. With hundreds of thousands dead, the races stood on the verge of extinction. But the end did not come. Instead the black horde vanished, leaving terrified survivors in its wake. As the centuries passed, the holocaust faded into myth and legend. With the tale forgotten, the renewed signs go unheeded. Only a supreme warrior can stave off the inevitable, a warrior named Elseerian. For the killings have already begun....

The Gathering, book two: Born of darkness, the ultimate army has been unleashed. The only hope lies in destroying the source - before all life is extinguished. Fate has chosen Elseerian for the impossible feat, but as he embarks on the harrowing journey the invasion must be delayed. With time as their only weapon against extinction, the elves issue a desperate call...for every race to ally. Facing annihilation, many will realize that survival lies in unity, courage sleeps in ordinary citizens, and average people can turn the tide of war. The Gathering has begun.

Seven Days, book three: Forced to ally, the world has gathered against the endless night. Numbering over a million souls, they are the survivors of nations. They have armed themselves with weapons and magic and defend the strongest fortress ever built. Led by a supreme strategic mind, the races have organized into battalions, designed unique tactics, and fortified their position beyond any conceivable need. But now their foe is at their gates, and to a man they cling to the same hope - to survive until Elseerian can defeat the source. The best they can last is seven days....

Predictable

Although I found the story predictable it still was able to surprise me in area's. I was however very upset that Chronicles of Luminiea is not the true beginning the first book to read is The list un- seen. Then the 2 books that follow them the omnibus

Best Story Ever heard

I purchased the omnibus - all 3 books at once hoping it would give me a couple of weeks of listening or more. I listened day and night. For one week. I couldn't stop listening.
The story was woven through many races and many characters- all of whom I felt I knew no matter how much time they lived in the story. The action was so well described, I could see a world. The characters emotions and thoughts so well written into it that I too felt the emotions.
The author has set a new standard level of rich storytelling.
I chose the story because of Derek Perkins skill as a narrator. Excellent! All of it!

Good book.

The other view of warsworn, this shows how the evil lord was defeated by the few.

Excellent narration for a mediocre story

Any additional comments?

Derek Perkins's narration made this book series for me. The story is essentially every cliche fantasy action sequence brought to text. Though the author has skill in characterization and world building this book reads more like a novel about fighting a bad natural disaster than a tale of good versus evil. Plot holes and weak characters abound and make the loss of truly beautiful characters feel flat and static. In my opinion the author watched to many movies about sword fighting and didn't read enough of the fantasy greats to make his action scenes feel less like they came from a kung-fu movie.

Stunning and Heart wrenching

Would you consider the audio edition of The Chronicles of Lumineia Omnibus: Books 1-3 to be better than the print version?

I would not know since I don't have the print version. I may consider buying it soon.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Goodness, that is a loaded question considering most if not all of the characters had key elements aside from the obvious ones.

What does Derek Perkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amazing Narrator. His skills have made me spoiled and I would gander that I consider his skills a point of reference to other narrators. I have a funny feeling that I may just opt for the books if other narrators don't come up to par or exceed.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Heart wrenching moments had me crying. Heaven knows that I should have NOT been listening at work (despite being a great multitasker) but I could not stop especially on the 3rd book.

Any additional comments?

Absolutely enjoyed the books and I look forward to more stories during the olden times of Lumineia. Great Job!

HALE Ben Hale!

i am only sad that I am through this and it is over. I so much enjoyed the narration and his voices impeccable. I cried I laughed I was on the edge of my seat I was absolutely stressed out at times I could not put the books down. I couldn't stop reading because every second I was drawn into this wonderful world getting to know and fall in love with these wonderful people.. I've read almost all the series connected with this book series and I have not been disappointed yet. the people who have negative things to say, I can't even fathom from where their opinions come.

Majestic and well Narrated

The story was so well written, the scenery well described, the characters fleshed our completely over time! And the narrator with his smooth voice, his ability to give each character different voices. So well done all around. I will highly recommend this author and narrator any time!
