Publisher's summary
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • What if everything we think we know about how the world works—our ideas of love, education, spirituality, work, happiness, and love—are based on Brules (bullsh*t rules) that get passed from generation to generation and are long past their expiration date?
This book teaches you to think like some of the greatest non-conformist minds of our era, to question, challenge, hack, and create new rules for YOUR life so you can define success on your own terms.
The Code of the Extraordinary Mind is a blueprint of laws to break us free from the shackles of an ordinary life. It makes a case that everything we know about the world is shaped by conditioning and habit. And thus, most people live their lives based on limiting rules and outdated beliefs about pretty much everything—love, work, money, parenting, sex, health, and more—which they inherit and pass on from generation to generation.
But what if you could remove these outdated ideas and start anew? What would your life look like if you could forget the rules of the past, and redefine what happiness, purpose, and success mean for you?
Not Just a Book, but a Movement
Blending computational thinking, integral theory, modern spirituality, evolutionary biology, and humor, personal growth entrepreneur Vishen Lakhiani provides a revolutionary 10-point framework for understanding and enhancing the human self. You will learn about bending reality. You will learn how to apply unique models like consciousness engineering to help you learn and grow at speeds like never before.
You will learn to make a dent in the universe and discover your quest. This framework is based on Lakhiani’s personal experiences, the 5 million people he’s reached through Mindvalley, and 200 hours of interviews and questions posed to incredible minds, including Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Peter Diamandis, Ken Wilber, Dean Kamen, Arianna Huffington, Michael Beckwith, and other legendary leaders.
In a unique fusion of cutting-edge ideas, personal stories, irreverence, and a brilliant teaching style, Lakhiani reveals the 10 powerful laws that form a step-by-step process that you can apply to life to shed years of struggle and elevate yourself to exceptional new heights.
The 10 Laws to an Extraordinary Life
This book challenges conventional ideas of relationships, goal-setting, mindfulness, happiness, and meaning. In a unique fusion of cutting-edge ideas, personal stories, and humorous irreverence, and not to mention, humor and napkin diagrams, this framework combines computational thinking with personal growth to provide a powerful framework for re-coding yourself—and replacing old, limiting models that hold you back with new, empowering beliefs and behaviors that set you on the path toward an extraordinary life. A life of more happiness and achievement than you might have dared to dream possible.
Once you discover the code, you will question your limits and realize that there are none. Step into a new understanding of the world around you and your place in it, and find yourself operating at a new, extraordinary level in every way...happiness, purpose, fulfilment, and love.
This Book Is a Living, Breathing Manifesto That Goes Beyond a Traditional Publication
For those who want more, The Code of the Extraordinary Mind connects to a full on immersive experience including ways for you to dive into particular chapters to unlock additional videos or training and connect with each other and the author to learn via peer-to-peer learning networks.

Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Because many of us get trapped in the Performance Paradox: the counterintuitive phenomenon that if we focus only on performing, our performance suffers. They are responsible for the happiness and distress we experience. They are the precursors of all we do. We grapple with improving our actions, only to find our attempts undone by impure thinking. If we focus on transforming our thoughts instead, incredible results will accrue from a fraction of the efforts.

Studies show that asking for help makes us better and less frustrated at our jobs. It helps us find new opportunities and new talent. It unlocks new ideas and solutions, and enhances team performance. And it helps us get the things we need outside the workplace as well. And yet, we rarely give ourselves permission to ask. Here, Wayne Baker shares a set of strategies - used at companies like Google, GM, and IDEO - that individuals, teams, and leaders can use to make asking for help a personal and organizational habit.

Amazing Content!
Vishen did a remarkable job of adding value. I listened to the entire book in one day. He provides so many free resources that were mentioned, but for some reason I can't access them. Anyone have any idea why I can't get them? Anyway, I cant wait to start applying his strategies and living and breathing some of the tools I learned. Once I get those free resources, I plan on digging deep and applying the 6 laws as well as researching the other amazing minds he mentioned in his book. It always makes such a difference when the author reads the book; I believe their is an instant feeling of connection and community and make the reading experience so much more enjoyable. Thank you, Vishen! -Anne O'Leary

I have so much hope for a path in which I can move forward in my life, with QUALITY OF LIFE in tow.
this should be a book everyone reads. it's more of a beginners guide to having a great life. it's not pie in the sky. when rubber hits the road, there are detailed instructions about how we all could live a life full of joy. this book gives hope, and gives a sip of curiosity for any skeptic that doesn't see the palanopy of beautiful possibilities in our lives. I plan on getting his yearly membership to have access to all he offers.

Clarifying consciousness while catapulting creativity
I had already accepted Vishen As one of the greatest meditation teachers I’ve ever learned from. Now I also see him as a flawed human with a great message to to anyone attempting to understand, control, and use the great power of the human mind to gain access to the building blocks of the soul.

I feel a sense of aliveness, the most I’ve ever felt and I am 58 years old!
It’s a lot of material and practices to absorb. Because I’m a person who wants to do it all immediately, I’ll need to be ok with baby steps. But, I love this toolkit and will devote the next 80 days toward achieving my extraordinary life. Thank you, thank you.

Exceptional
Love the story, the importance of meditation, the focus on detaching from outdated, outmoded and dysfunctional, cultural, influences, as well as fresh approach to goalsetting. Definitely a book. I will listen to again and take thorough notes as well as put into practice in my life. Especially inspired by his story of starting out as a software engineer, and being so inspired and motivated by the use and productivity of meditation in his life.
