From J. Bree, bestselling author of The Bonds That Tie, comes an epic and enthralling new romantasy series.

I devoted my life to a king who was not my own.

On the road to ultimate honor and glory, I lost everything.

Now, in a world ravaged by the whims of those who rule, I must turn my back on a lifetime of friendships and loyalties to face my own fate.

The Savage Prince.

Heir to the high-fae throne of the Southern Lands, he is known for his brutality and cold heart. But with the kingdom on the brink of ruin, I have no choice but to seek him out.

The war between the fae and the witches rages, and there’s no end in sight. My destiny is clear—help the prince defeat his enemies before it’s too late.

One small problem.

I am Rookesbane Eveningstar.

The Favored Child returned, a Witch of the Woods.

The greatest enemy of my Fates-blessed mate.

*The Crown of Oaths and Curses is a full-length MF epic fantasy romance with material that may be difficult for some listeners. This book will end on a cliffhanger. It's recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations. Book 1 of a 3-book series.

The story line was extremely interesting;
Just forewarning—the main male character in annoying AF towards main female. But also has layers to him.
Hopefully book 2 will give more depth

Different, yet good

The cliffhanger, audible needs to offer the next book The Throne of Honor and Blood as soon as possible. Don’t leave us hanging land waiting.

The book got better with each chapter. I recommend it.

Book 1 of The Mortal Fates will always be a favorite book of mine. I absolutely love Rooke and her strength, fortitude, patience, and kindness. One of the best FMCs I've read about and the last several chapters are EPIC! The narrators did this book justice! Going in for round 2!

I freaking love this book!

This duet narration has brought this book to life. I absolutely love every book that J Bree puts out but this is one of my favorite narrated audiobooks of hers. The duet narration brings Rooke and Soren's characters to life in the best way.

I absolutely love J Bree

The book kept me engaged, and I enjoyed the developing storyline and strong female lead.

The male lead however, was whiny and annoying. I was hoping he’d get better throughout the book, but continued to be pretty darn arrogant and blind.

Pleasantly surprised; engaging

Highly recommend reading the novellas first, The Septor and The Sword. This story is amazing and exactly what I've been craving. You will not be disappointed, the story never has a dull moment. The narrators both really brought the characters to life. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A perfectly told true Enemies to Lovers tale!

This was far different than any "Fantasy Romance" I've ever read, and there is absolutely no romance in what I'm hopefully assuming is the first book in a duology, trilogy, series, whatever...

Without laying on the spoilers, this book is basically about following your path as set doen for you by the fates, and the devastation caused by ignoring it.

A nature witch returned home after 2 centuries where her life began, and much of it ended. she finds the Unseelie Fae, after so many years, have completely forgotten their oath to the earth, and it is crying our for the old ways.

Our heroine's fate, in a cruel twist, has bound her to the Savage Prince. He is arrogant, judgemental, entrusting and surround himself with many other high Fae males who are nearly as bad, if not worse. For the Fae have hunted and killed witches their entire lives, believing them all to be traitors who aligned themselves with a dangerous rogue witch who has blinded most of them, thus creating an army of grotesque, mindless soldiers made for one purpose. To kill the Fae.

So when the Savage Prince learns his fated mate is a witch, he captures her, not killing her, but not trusting her, regardless of what she says, what she does, how she helps them, and how she explains that, should the Prince ignore his fate, everyone he loves, along with his home, shall parish.

Rook, the Witch, trusts her fate, allowing it to guide her, to fulfill her prophecy. Even as she is treated terribly, spoken to as if she was nothing more than trash, she continues to help the innocent, break curses and save lives, even that of her ignorant fated mate.

In the end, both Rook and a Fae Princess who knows in her heart hat Rook is different from the army of crazed witches turn this bleak story into one of hope and better things to come, including the healing of a Kingdom whose land has been long forgotten by it's own keepers.

The book is packed with action, intrigue, makes you wonder what could truly bring about change in this Kingdom and let's you slowly discover the depths of each character, and not juat the main characters, but manybof the secondary characters as well. (Even though, at times, you want to shake the Prince and his royal lineage for being so dumb, that the female character nearly let's them all die.

It's well written, with good world building, and the narration is fantastic.

At times, the book can be a bit slow paced, as well as a little monotonous, but you can tell that this first novel is setting the stage for bigger things to come, including a romance that will hopefully bind the Kingdom back to the forgotten ways of the land.

Definitely a book involving "bad ass" first and secondary heroine's you will find yourself cheering for!

Never Underestimate the Strength of a Woman

I had mixed feelings about this book at the beginning because Rook’s POV was entrancing but Soren’s was filled with dense world building materials that focused on political structure. Since it was an audiobook and balanced with Rook’s magnificent story I pushed through and by chapter 6 I was hooked.
It had all the hallmarks of a classic J Bree tale with a strong and fierce FMC, tight knit friend group, and despicable villains. But the fantasy elements provided a backdrop for a visceral loathing in the enemies to lovers rejected mate trope that was powered by heinous prejudice with a very subtle but fascinating commentary on the subject.
In short, I loved this book and thought the narrators did an amazing job with the storytelling. I cannot wait to read the next book!!

(No spice yet, and very little romance, but lots of gory action.)
