To save her father and herself, she must be a spy for the French against her will. Going to England, she informed the Duke that she is a widow and a relative, who is experiencing hard times. The plan is for her to receive agents from France and give them their orders to infiltrate the British government . Good story and fast pace. Great narrative.

This book definitely kept me interested. I began thinking there was no way out and that made it exciting. The middle of the book got a little slow but then it would pick up again. The narrator was very good. The whole book seemed to revolve around not if but when the heroine would confess the truth but when she finally did the way out of the problem seemed a little to easy considering the treasonous act she committed. It wasn't real after all it was just a book and I enjoyed it anyway.

better then book 1.

"The Deception" is a story about a half French/half English beauty, Evangaline, who was kidnapped by Bonaparte's minions, along with her French father, and forced to spy on her deceased cousin's widower (a Duke, who works with England's War Office) in exchange for her father's life.

I found the first half of The Deception rather slow--common in many of Coulter's books. The second half was great; filled with intrigue, romance, humor.

Although the banter between the Duke and Evangaline did not seem appropriate for people of that time in history, an excellent narrator like Anne Flosnik can cover a multitude of author errors.

Anne Flosnik gave a great performance!

I added this and another book to my library but, was unable to download it onto my MP3 player. So, I've unsubscribed to Audible Escape.
