About this listen

One of mankind's greatest secrets...has been hiding in plain sight for 3,000 years.

Half a century ago, an aberration was spotted by one of our earliest satellites, and summarily dismissed as a hardware malfunction. But it was no aberration. And no malfunction. It was an accidental glimpse of something extraordinary, and very old.

Mocked for decades, the man who designed the satellite is now dead. With the system's original data firmly in the hands of former NTSB investigator Joe Rickards and anthropologist Angela Reed.

But the data is only to be shared with one other person besides them: a seventy-five-year-old NASA engineer who was part of the original program.

Joe Rickards is convinced it will lead mankind into darkness.

Angela believes it may be the answer the modern world has been longing for.

And former NASA engineer Leonard Townsend hasn't the slightest idea what he's about to get involved in.

To make matters worse, through a strange bedside confession, a journalist thousands of miles away has just learned that someone else already knows about the satellite's 50-year-old discovery.

Because they've been secretly using it for years.

Another great offering by Michael Grumley

Wonderful mix of science and sci-fi by Michael. I always enjoy his fantasy and cutting edge science combination as well as the bonds between his main characters. A great sequel to The Last Monument. Love all the globe-trotting in his novels. Takes me to a web browser to look up
the locations for a good visualization of the locales. Scott Brick delivers his consistently engaging narration.

A great book very entertaining

I enjoyed this book immensely, I use audible books during my long drives from job to job out here in Western Colorado, this guy is a great author and with Scott Brick reading it, it brings it completely to life, sometime I wonder how I got to my destination.

great!

I did not know this was book 2 in a series since Audible did not have it listed that way. Wish I would have listened to 'The Last Monument' first. This does work fine as a stand alone thankfully. Awesome story and great narration!

Narrator savd the story

Scott Brick is one of the best narrators, story was a little too complicated could not wait to finish, actually ending up skipping chapters just to get to the details

Entertaining - where is the third book?

The series says it’s a trilogy but I cannot find a third book. The end seems to also close most of the story lines, so maybe there is no third book and it is a “bilogy”.
I always enjoy Grumley’s books. They are extremely entertaining and the reader is fantastic!; not too dramatic but still animated.

A fun listen that skirts believability such that your mind can stretch to “believing” and enjoying the ride.

Another Fantastic Thriller with Heart

This is the amazing follow up to the Last Monument. Joe and Angela find themselves on a new mission after a cryptic message from an ally alerts Angela to a new mystery. Searching out a retired NASA scientist, they set out to learn about a possibly related location. Meanwhile a reporter is given special information and tasked with finding out what it means. They will be threatened by evil genius and converge on the unimaginable. Another fantastic, well written thriller with believable characters, twists, turns, science and sci-fi. I do have to agree with a fellow reviewer that the endings are rushed. I do want to learn more, as I've become invested in the characters. Mr. Grumley has become a favorite author and I will be diving into his other books. Scott Brick does his usual fantastic narration.

Narrator sounds over-the-top sad

Every thing the narrator said he is saying in his sad tone. It is like everything he says is end of the world or something. Very weird compared to his previous performances. Also I really enjoy this authors work but I hate how he always uses the "answer a question with the same question" routine. Like how many times are these silly people going to parrot stuff back. There are other ways to sell the unbelievability.
