About this listen

When Tess and Eliot stumble upon an ancient book hidden in a secret tunnel beneath the school library, they accidentally release a devil from his book-bound prison, and he’ll stop at nothing to stay free. He’ll manipulate all the ink in the library books to do his bidding, he’ll murder in the stacks, and he’ll bleed into every inch of Tess’ life until his freedom is permanent. Forced to work together, Tess and Eliot have to find a way to re-trap the devil before he kills everyone they know and love, including, increasingly, each other. And compared to what the devil has in store for them, school stress suddenly doesn’t seem so bad after all.

I like this book. I like the story, it's quite short and well once it starts unraveling it just keeps you listening. But I did not enjoy male narrator voice. His accent, his one second very silent and another second super loud voice was so hard to understand to follow. I feel so sorry for it, as i like Eliots character and everything, but I just couldn't associate with him as the voice I was listening was terrible for me. Female narrator was great, super easy to follow her speech and everything she say was understandable!
In general i liked story too much to quit it, but also it would be even better if for another male narrator-im sorry to you, i dont hate you for your voice, but for me it's just wasn't pleasant

Bovalino writes such a riveting, thrilling and frightening story that really keeps the reader engaged. I cannot wait to read it listen to her next novel.

Frightfully fantastic

I really loved this book! It was fantastic! I'm not sure how it ended, I might have fallen asleep for the finish, so I'll need to relisten to the final few chapters! I've already listened to the Epilogue again, and it was new to me. So I need to relisten to more.

I listened to from Chapter 60 to the end hours ago. And figured out how it ended! I'm so glad Tess and Eliot fell in love and survived this story!

But I really loved this book! Suzy Jackson and John Keating did a fabulous job performing this story! I thoroughly enjoyed their narration.

John Keating and Suzy Jackson did fabulously!

This was a wonderful read! I loved it! It wasn’t terribly scary, a little unnerving but for a debut novel? It was great.

The only thing I disliked about it was that the audio kept dipping in volume especially during the male narrators sections. But the narrators themselves were wonderful at conveying the characters and emotions.

I would definitely recommend this if you’re in the mood for a light haunt.

Great little haunt
