About this listen

Tainted by scandal and forced to leave London for the quieter Brighton countryside, the Honorable Miss Clara DeLancey is a shadow of her former society self. She's lost the man she loved to another and, in a culture that has no patience for self-pity, is struggling with depression. A chance encounter brings her a healing friendship with the sisters of an injured naval captain. But Clara's society mama is appalled at the new company she's keeping.

Captain Benjamin Kemsley is not looking for a wife. But his gallant spirit won't let him ignore the penniless viscount's daughter-not when she so obviously needs assistance to keep moving forward from day to day. Can he protect his heart and still keep her safe?

When they're pushed into the highest echelons of society at the Prince Regent's Brighton Pavilion, this mismatched couple must decide if family honor is more important than their hopes. Can they right the wrongs of the past and find future happiness together-without finances, family support, or royal favor?

This story is fine enough, but it’s hard to pay attention at times to the story line because the narrator detracts from the story so much! She makes each character come across as whiny brats who are impatient with everything around them at all times. I don’t understand why some narrators are chosen- do the authors get to listen to a clip of their performance first? For me, it’s like listening to someone scratching their nails on a chalkboard. The author needs a different narrator who can actually make the story come to life instead of make me want to stop listening 5 minutes in.

Narrator is the worst!

I enjoyed the book a lot, however, found it to be quite preachy. I am a Christian myself, but some of the religious aspects seemed quite forced rather than flowing naturally.

I loved the idea of a captain falling in love with a lady whose representation was tainted. I also enjoyed the conflict between her, her parents, and her brother. It seemed rather realistic that the brother would do anything he could to get money.

Good but very religious

I enjoyed the story and enjoyed the clean, religious undertones throughout. There wasn’t one sex scene or one swear word. A good clean story of forgiveness, hope and redemption

Enjoyable

I love this author’s creativity. Her stories far surpass other authors with complexity. She supplements the unnecessary intimate details of other romance novels with clean romance & added substance to the storyline. I also like the added historical references & research she has done, with footnotes at the end of the book. The narrator is not my favorite due to her squeaky females voices, somewhat annoying for me but her male voices are good. Thank you for another enjoyable novel.

VERY WELL DONE

I loved everything about this series! Each story was individual but built the framework for the next. This one in particular was a beautiful story of growth and change. The narrator was fantastic as always!

Best of the series!

I absolutely love historical fiction. It is so much fun to have a little romance mixed with history.

I enjoyed a tale of forgiveness and redemption in the materialistic and self-centered Regency period,

I enjoy the Bath setting and of course the Regency Period. This novel is beautifully written with light faith elements. The Narration was great. I would definitely recommended this novel. Nice and clean;)

loved the hero and heroine and the story that put God as the main connection in the story. It had excitement without all the sex just a good clean story that actually was not boring it was just well written. The narrator was ok, some what weak unable to give each characters a different sounding voice but did a good job could of been better narrated with Darcy Stark as the narrator . but overall I enjoyed this book.

God inspired love story loved the chemistry

A great reminder that your shame is redeemable. God sees your heart and forgives. And when you turn your enemies or those that have offended you, over to God, He heals you.
