About this listen

Let's be honest: the life you're leading isn't the one you've always dreamt of. And maybe the person you've become isn't who you imagined you'd be. Sure, you can work longer, love harder, and eat better. You can scrub the surface of your life until it gleams. But that won't address the fact that you've somehow lost sight of who you really are.

Working from the core message of Ephesians 1:11, Jo Saxton implores women to reject mistaken identities. Relying on personal stories from her own life, she identifies key scenarios where identities develop that are not true to God's vision, demonstrating the importance of knowing one's name, embracing the gifts you've been given, confronting body issues, managing seasons of depression and grief, and letting go of perfectionism.

Through Biblical examination of texts where identities are in question or being developed, she invites listeners to accept being seen and known by a loving God - and to allow their broken stories to become redemptive ones.

Dream Big!

I loved this book! It will be one of my references through different seasons to encourage me to dream big and to embrace my purpose and my God-given Identity. I identified with Joe's personal stories. I love the way she also used Bible stories to help explain various topics related to broken identities.

to dream again

I really took this book to heart as it was the topic of our small group for Fall 2019. I didn't get to participate in a lot of the discussion because I have been unwell and in a different season of life. however, Jo was encouraging and informative. I wish there were a few more seconds between chapters and subheadings. Otherwise, it was great!

Chapter titles do not match the narration.

For example right now the author is reading what she titles chapter 3 which matches the actual book table of contents but the audible app is listing it as chapter 5.

Timely

I’m using this book for a women’s group and it has change our way of thinking about oneself and how God’s view of us and the importance of it. Not the traditional ten step but a journey that’s helping and broadening our understanding. It’s never to late to learn about oneself and to remain teachable Many thanks to Mrs Saxton

Encouraging and solid worldview

Jo does a great job of both encouraging us and grounding us in biblical truth. I especially appreciated her perspective and found a ton of common thinking ground with her, despite the fact that we had such different life experiences. She is smart, funny and approachable as a female leader. Thanks for writing from your heart in a way that is strong and wily, but also truthful. It inspires me to use my voice to create change in my life rather than simply dressing slipping on my Wonder Woman boots, redlipstick, and winging it.
