About this listen

The beautiful daughter of a prominent Michigan doctor, Narice has never strayed anywhere near the wrong side of the law. Then her father is brutally murdered - and suddenly federal agents are swarming around her like flies, making accusations about a stolen North African diamond. But before they can interrogate her, she is wrested from their grasp at gunpoint by a shadowy figure - and Narice Jordan is on the run.

But is this dark, good-looking stranger who calls himself Saint her kidnapper or her savior? Narice knows nothing about any missing gem, yet there are two things she knows for certain: Only at Saint's side can she find her way to her father's killers.

And she'll have to trust this dangerous, ruthless, and deadly mystery man...if she wants to keep breathing.

Very enjoyable!

Good writing, clever and fun plot, great characters and terrific narration. This is the first book I’ve listened to by Beverly Jenkins. It won’t be my last.

Entertaining at least

Not my favorite but it passed the time. I wasn’t a fan of the narrator’s pacing or tone. I struggled with the writing a bit- especially the excessive use of metaphors and similes. Don’t use a credit but if it’s free it’s not a bad use of your time.

interesting story but it just dragged on and on

the book was probably 10 chapters too long. while I enjoyed it, I got to a point where all of the escaping and near death misses were too much.

Wow and Wow

This audio was exciting from start to finish. The narrator did an amazing job, she brought the story to life, at times I felt I was in the story. Very exciting, she brought emotions and a connection to the characters. I appreciated the details, but wasn't drawn out, the adventure were interesting. Very professional with speaking and pronunciation. First time listening to this author and narrator, hope it won't be the last. Bitter sweet, I hope to fine another good one as this listen. May have to listen again! Bravo...well done!

Action Packed

I love this book, it seemed I read it hardcopy but still, it was worthy of a second read. It is action-packed with a touch of grace throughout the book and I love the fact it brought a memory one of my favorite books by Ms. Jenkins, favorite books period "Indigo", Even at this moment I'm smiling from this read and think everyone should get this one.

Consistently Outstanding

It's a wonderful thing when every book I listen to by Beverly Jenkins delivers a great listen. This book is exciting, romantic, passionate, rich with history, and a home run. She's a great researcher. Time and attention paid to cultures, characters, local color, and accurate portrayals of black folks is well done. I've been waiting to know more about Saint Martin, he's a many faceted character, just like a glistening diamond.

Action packed plus romance!

Beverly Jenkins did it again! I fell in love with the characters Saint and Narice. Loved the family references to Galen Vashon and Hester. Loved how Black history is entwined with the plot. Loved the action-packed sequences. Loved this book from beginning to end. This story is a winner!

It similar to those type of stories,

You know how it’s going to end. Need more friction. More disappointments. Maybe a tragedy
