About this listen

There’s a young woman tied up in the basement of our cabin.

It was supposed to be a fun weekend at our family cabin. I was going to surprise my husband, Mike, with a small get-together for his 40th birthday.

Something is wrong, though. Mike isn’t himself lately. He goes out often and by himself, leaving me and our young son. Our happy marriage is fading away, and I don’t know why.

This weekend is just what's needed to cheer him up. It’s what we need for us.

When I get to the cabin and set up, I hear sounds coming from the basement. That’s when I see her. A young woman tied up and scared.

She cries out for me to help her. Before I can, Mike comes to the cabin early.

Who is she? Why is she here?

What has my husband done?

The new psychological thriller from the author of The In-Laws and The Patient’s List. If you’re a fan of gripping thrillers by the likes of Daniel Hurst or Freida McFadden, The Family Cabin will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The surprises is what stood out. The story ends with a brilliant outcome.

I really enjoyed the book. There wasn't anything I didn't like about it. The characters were well thought out. The author kept you guessing about some of them.

I was wrong on all my guesses

I had no idea where this was going and every time I thought I had something figured out, someone else was looking guilty. A wild ride that had me at the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was guilty.

Entertaining but SO FRUSTRATING

This story was entertaining, but endlessly frustrating. You do not need a quarter to dial 911 on a pay phone. Why not tell the grocery clerk or write a note? Dawn had a million opportunities to inform cops. I was more annoyed than anything at her being a dingbat! Then hold on I need to use the bathroom before we escape? Seriously?! 🙄🙄🙄

The first 5 hours were HORRIBLE but last 2 were good - 2/5 star rating

Truly, Im shocked I stuck with it. This book made me laugh out loud so many times at how DUMB the women were.

Save your money/credit. The writing was so incredibly cheesy. The audio was sooo slow. I listened to it at 1.25 speed & still it was insanely drawwwwwwnnnn ouuuuttttt. Just like the writing.

It was equivalent to a lifetime movie, like a female running & tripping in heels. I will say, the last 2-3 hours had a twist I didn’t see. The plot had such promise, but the storyline was comparable to the movie Misery except with a B list actress as the lead actress. Just *facepalm*

Where this author went wrong…

A story this insanely ridiculous should at least have humor or SOMETHING to make it worthwhile. I love a good long-shot plot that makes me laugh, but not his one. I mean WOW. I can’t even believe I kept listening, but it’s slim pickins lately.

I honestly thought this was going to be good for the first couple of chapters, then the unbelievable plot thickened and quickened- and when I say thickened & quickened, I’m talking about quick sand, because that’s how it felt.

In terms of narrators, they weren’t bad, but the 1 minute pauses between every sentence is the only reason this book was as long as it was, but I couldn’t speed it up because the speech in general was a decent speed.
