Every family has secrets—dark ones, twisted ones, ones they hide.

The Ivory family is no different. From the outside of their gated estate, one would see a beautiful, wealthy family. But the more perfect they seem, it only shows how many imperfections they are trying to bury. When Demi Rao, a young woman, is at her wits' end and on the run from escaping her captor, she comes across an employment ad from the Ivory family, looking for someone to help maintain their elaborate estate. Although the ad is strange with meticulous directions to wear all white, no makeup, and speak quietly, Demi applies. With no choices, Demi gets and accepts the job, and when she does, she quickly realizes she's not there to clean; she's there for a purpose. They picked her. They chose her. They've always known her. Behind the doors of the pristine estate lie secrets, a lethal human experiment, and Demi's entire life planned out for her.

The Ivorys have picked a favorite girl.

And it might just be her.

This novel is a dark thriller that has content for mature listeners.

If you can’t handle SA in a book or sex trafficking this book is not for you.

It was really dark

I went in blind. Was told it was one that will hook you and I figured I would give it a try. So happy I did, I don’t really give 5 stars out often but this was amazing. Very dark and gripping.

Got me out of my rut

Not good character or story development. Author asks you to take giant leaps forward in the storyline. Just not great.

Not that well written

Everything was amazing ! I found a new writer I’m obsessed with . I had been hoping to find a new author to fallow . The narration was great too . I’ll keep her on my lookout too . Enjoy . Start with this book then listen to the next one of the series . I’m starting that now . Exited !

Yes!!!! From beginning I was hooked .

This book may be tough for some. That’s why Monica provides trigger warnings. It made me squirm, cringe, nauseous and sad. That’s reality for some. This was insane, but I believe this is the trafficking world. Besides that, I was on the edge of my seat. I made myself stay up all night because I had to know what happened! I can’t wait for the next one.

The Raw Truth

POSSIBLE SLIGHT SPOILER Great narration but I predicted Bradley’s character from the beginning so I was disappointed with the ending which I will not give away but I would have preferred the story all the way up to drinking the whiskey, I know a woman doesn’t need a man but why make NO one love her. Kinda cynical right? What was the point of making her unloved by all INCLUDING her sister. That part of the story could gave been left out especially since she says she kills her but she’s also married? Doesn’t go… the narrator did an amazing job though!

The ending boooo

I thought the writing was a bit mediocre and there were some plot holes as well as some parts that made zero sense and left me wanting further explanation but it was entertaining enough to keep me listening just to see how it would all end (and then the ending was a little disappointing). Narration was good. Overall just 3 stars.

Just ok
