About this listen

From the next big name in YA thrillers that fans on Book Tok have dubbed, “The CEO of plot twists” comes a classic horror story for a new generation.

Six strangers. One night. But how many survivors?

When a group of six strangers who have only ever spoken on a creepy Deddit thread decide to meet IRL, they have one plan in mind: they are going to play The Midnight Game and summon the Midnight Man.

Rules of the game are simple: Do not turn on the lights. Do not go to sleep. Do not leave the building.

And once you start the game, you must finish it—there's no other way out...

wickedly good

This book was wickedly crazy. At first listening to this book I did get kind of confused with that chat and screen names. But after a few chapters in, I was good to go. This book does go back and fourth to a past time in October and then to a present time in July. With different characters. It isn't until maybe a little over halfway through that we find out why it's done that way and the how come.
They bring up a lot of games or is it games that young teens and young adults and adults I'm sure play. All for fun and scares.
First off I would never partake in any of that mess. Nope peace out. If there is some small tiny chance that it could be real or some crazy folks getting the wrong idea. Yeah that's going to be a nope.

But it is fun to read about these things. Although this book was not fun by any means. These characters keep you rooting for them to make it through the night. And also make you wonder is the midnight man for real? Even at the end you kind of think is he or isn't he? What did they really see or not see?
The rules of the Midnight game are well thought out and I like that. But these teens seemed to have been playing for some crazy reasons. I like almost all of the characters. I don't want to say which are my faves. Because I feel it might spoil the book in some way. This was my first book by this author. I will definitely be checking out another from this author.

the characters personalities

the only thing I didn't like was the thread conversations and jumping back and forth in the time frame....was a little confusing at times....but other than that I loved it

Really liked it

I enjoyed the progression, though listening to the email and text conversations was a bit repetitive with always repeating the date and time and sender before every single message.
