Wonderful, unique perspective!

This author gives a unique perspective about symbiotic verses parasitic relationships. She weaves an interesting, intelligent, and believable story which explores the realm of interstellar travel and the interaction between species. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Great premise

The author does a great job reading this short story. The premise of the story is so new and fresh. This is well worth the read.

A gem of a story!

Wow, this story was such a nice surprise... I wasn't sure what I was gonna get when I downloaded it... all I knew was that it was something I hadn't yet read, from one of my favorite authors... I also knew that it was a first contact story from an alien's perspective. What a perfect, little gem of a gift from Jennifer Foehner Wells! This beautiful story (placed in the Fluency universe) is the prequel to Jen's next book, Druid, which is available now in eBook and an audible version should be out later this year...

If you've not already caught the Flu(ency) from Jennifer Foehner Wells, you owe it to yourself to become infected! Don't wait. Get Fluency today, and then read EVERYTHING she has written (short stories, too, like this one, The Grove). You won't go wrong by reading Jen's tales, I swear, you seriously need these books!!!

I just listened to the audible version of this story. It was such a pleasure to hear it in Jennifer's own voice...

Walking, Talking, Trees

From the Alien View
I prefer books that come from a different angle and that is what treed me to this novella. As mentioned by another reviewer, there are no humans in this. I give an A for Concept. After the beginning of this story it dragged. Maybe it was, too much, too fast? I would have liked to have spent more time with the main character and with this world. A longer version, in which we start with the mother, the birthing, the growing up and than the separation, could have been more interesting. The world created could also use more exploration. To capture the male audience, some violence, evil and or sex would help.

Must hear.

Absolutely stunning, both the story and the reading. So easy to get pulled into her world. Great to hear sci fi with no humans, but it wouldn't be Jen Wells without a cephalopod!

Really book 2.5 in Confluency Series...

So cool! I love this world and the creations in it! I highly recommend this read-alone OR in the series.
