About this listen

Eileen Favorite's fiction debut pays homage to her love of literature.

Penny Entwhistle's mother runs a bed and breakfast frequented by literary heroines. Madame Bovary, Scarlett O'Hara, and Franny Glass all stayed for a temporary retreat before returning to their inevitable fates - which Penny and her mother must be careful not to interfere with. But when an unwelcome guest arrives, 13-year-old Penny must rely on the heroines she's always been jealous of to help her.

Clever concept, not at all what I thought it would be.

I loved the premise of this tale. The story itself, I did listen to it from beginning to end, but only because I wanted to like it more and thought maybe this next chapter will bring that satisfaction. I felt constant frustration with the holes in the plot and gratuitous addition of heroines here and there. While I’d have loved to listen to a differently explored concept of a house for wayward and distressed heroines, as is, I regret having listened to this book.
