About this listen

A totally thrilling and addictive psychological thriller

Is the man you love a killer?

I’ve been married to my kind, loving husband Lachlan for over twenty years. He’s my everything. We have two teenage children, a beautiful home and I feel so lucky to live this perfect life. Until my best friend says something that makes me doubt everything…

She whispers it’s strange Lachlan has lived nearby to two unsolved murder cases. First, the murder of the woman in the small, Scottish village where he grew up and more recently the shocking death of a woman who lived round the corner from us. The thought makes my head spin. It’s just a coincidence, surely?

But at home, I can’t help but notice that Lachlan’s becoming angry, not at all like his usual self. It makes me wonder if he’s hiding something from me. It makes me wonder if he could be guilty. I push the thought away, but no matter what, I can’t get rid of this niggle of doubt.

The only way to find out is to go to Scotland and get my husband to face his past. But when secrets start to unravel in the remote Scottish Highlands, I realise the truth is more complicated than I thought, and more than one person could be a killer.

Now my children and I are in terrible danger. And coming here might be the last mistake I ever make.

An utterly addictive psychological thriller that will have you gasping out loud from the master of multiple twists and number 1 bestselling author Daniel Hurst. If you love None Of This Is True, John Marrs, T.M Logan and Freida McFadden you’ll be gripped by The Husband.

Pretty good

I enjoyed listening. There isn't as much of a twist at the end as many of his books have, but overall worth listening to.

Fast paced psychological thriller

Another captivating read from Daniel Hurst. The audio of this story was well acted and kept me riveted.

Jennie and Lachlan married couple with two teenaged children live a quiet life which is up ended after the airing of a documentary. The documentary focuses on an unsolved murder which took place years earlier in.Lachlan’s Scottish village. Having left the village soon after he graduated from high school, Lachlan had no desire to revisit his childhood home despite the pleas from his wife and daughter. Their suggestion to have a family vacation there fell on deaf ears. Unbeknownst to his family, Lachlan had good reason to stay away from his former home.

The chapters alternate between Jenny and Lachlan’s thoughts. It’s interesting to learn what each is thinking relative to the plot. Hurst has written a fast paced psychological thriller with his signature twist ending. His books don’t disappoint.

Not my favorite "Husband" book.....

"The Husband" was not my favorite husband book.

Nor was it my favorite Daniel Hurst book.

(I have listened to them all!)

This 7-hour audiobook was eye-rolling and easily could have been a 4-hour book.

The twist at the end of the book was underwhelming.

The narration by Lucy Paterson and Angus King was superb.

Disappointing Daniel Hurst title

I'm not a fan of revealing the villain early in the story. For me, Daniel Hurst's books are sometimes good, sometimes not so much. This one didn't do it for me.
