Publisher's summary

Megan thinks that she has the perfect husband and the perfect life. Craig works so that she doesn't have to, leaving her free to relax all day in their beautiful and secluded country home.

But when she starts to long for friends and purpose again, Megan applies for a job in London, much to her husband's disappointment. She thinks that he is upset because she is unhappy. But she has no idea.

After Megan goes against his wishes and attends the interview, Craig decides that it is time to act. Locking her away in their home, Megan realizes that her husband never had her best interests at heart, nor did they meet by accident.

Craig has been planning this from the start.

As Megan is kept shut away from the world with only somebody else's diary for company, she starts to uncover the lies, the secrets, and the fact that she isn't actually Craig's first wife after all....

Loved the twists right to the very end!

I know I've read a lot of reviews of Daniel Hurst's books, saying that they are predictable and unrealistic. I was shocked a few times. I love his books. The narration was good to!

Unbelievable twists that kept me guessing! You won’t be sorry, not to be missed.

How does he think these things up?

repetitive but still entertaining

The story was decent, but the two main characters kept repeating the same things over and over. if you can get through that, it is a good listen.

Surprise!

I will just simply say I loved this! It wasn't hugely long, but there was plenty of time to get the story set up... and the end twists, which I didn't truly expect, were great.

Quick read with a good final twist

I’ve been going through all of the free Daniel Hurst books and it’s been a pleasure. You can count on a twist or two by the time you get to the end.

First half good, but then disappointing

This was my first listen for this author. During the first half of the listen, it was very engaging. Then the pace slowed down too much, but the big disappointment was the very ending. It seems to be a popular device in contemporary thillers used by a number of authors, where at the very ending, it is suddenly revealed that the investment in the characters as clearly presented and created by the author, was the opposite of what it turns out to be. Maybe that is considered to be a "twist." To me, it's not a twist. It's telling you a story only to tell you at the end that he didn't really tell you the story and in a few sentences he undoes it all, and undoes how he has presented the characters. Personally, that's not for me, although from reviews it seems many listeners and readers enjoy it as a twist. When I find that an author tends to use this device, I look for other authors.

The narration was very well done. Both narrators were good. As for the story itself, it wasn't really the writing itself. It was the fact that the story was told one way, and then it turned out it was misrepresented. In order to avoid spoilers, I won't be any more specific. Luckily, it was one of the shorter titles in this genre, and also I got it in a 2 titles for 1 credit sale.

Didn’t see that ending. This was a great book. I really enjoyed all the mind twists.
