About this listen

Set in the same dark world as his beloved novel The Last Child, John Hart delivers a stunning vision of a secret world - rarely seen - in this unforgettable audiobook.

It's been 10 years since the events that changed Johnny Merrimon's life and rocked his hometown to the core. Since then, Johnny has fought to maintain his privacy, but books have been written of his exploits; he has fans, groupies. Living alone in the wilderness beyond town, Johnny's only connection to normal life is his old friend, Jack. They're not boys anymore, but the bonds remain. What they shared. What they lost.

But Jack sees danger in the wild places Johnny calls home; he senses darkness and hunger, an intractable intent. Johnny will discuss none of it, but there are the things he knows, the things he can do. A lesser friend might accept such abilities as a gift, but Jack has felt what moves in the swamp: the cold of it, the unspeakable fear.

Building on the world first glimpsed in The Last Child, The Hush is more than an exploration of friendship, persistence, and forgotten power. It takes the listener to unexpected places and reminds us all why John Hart, after five consecutive New York Times best sellers, still warrants acclaim.

I did not think John Hart could top his prior works but he has done it. This story never stops and is rich with character and plot surprises. Absolutely loved it! Waiting patiently for the next book by Mr Hart.....

Best book yet!

I fell in love with the characters from this book in his previous book, and was not disappointed. The author has a way of describing things that almost feels artistic. Great story, will definitely check out more of his.

Love this author

this wasn't one of those books that I had figured out before I was halfway through it. It was created and held my attention to the very end

I enjoy this.

A must read - enthralling - balanced- poignant and beautiful - without a doubt one if the finest stories ever told.

Finished it but never really got this one. I enjoy John Hart but I think personally it was too weird for me.

Just never got into this one.

Love John Hart books. His words just have such a rhythm to them. This story rivaled his last couple of books as favorites of mine!

Absolutely fantastic. I listened to the hush while on the treadmill at the gym and found myself often walking a mile or two further than I planned due to the gripping story. Jeremy Bobb kept my interested with his voice changes for each character and I’ll be seeking out other books he’s narrated.

Easily one of the top 5 books I’ve read/listened to
