About this listen

The fear inside meets the terror out there in a story of unsettling suspense from Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Jeffery Deaver.

Evan Hart lives the good life, enjoying his job, his sports club, the occasional date - and especially his comfortable home, nestled in the thick woods surrounding his property. But that tranquility is shattered when he realizes a figure from his past has arrived in town, armed with a knife, his intentions clear from the man’s attempts to break into Evan’s house in the middle of the night. The authorities can do nothing.

Evan can only turn to the nightmares that plague his sleeping hours for answers. But the question is: Can those dreams save him, or are they part of the intruder’s plan?

Fantastic Thriller with a Twist

This was short, fantastic thriller with a great twist. A man is stalked by an unbalanced family member. This being a Jeffrey Deaver story, nothing is as it appears to be. Really great thriller and loved the twist. Justice served! Loved this, one of his better stories.

A Haunting Truth!!!!

This story was rather slow at first and gave details that I did not think were relevant until about halfway through. Once I got 75% through I realized that the MC was evil but that is not easily seen until they (the detective and the coroner) start tossing out maybes and then the MC's brother shows up and answers quite a few unanswered question.

Jeffrey Deaver is master of twisted suspense.

Got me in the end

I don't have a ton to say about this book because it was quite short, but I did enjoy it, and the end surprised me.

Predictable End

One tenth into story, you knew the ending. Unlike a normal Dever novel that continues to surprise you.

Good short story

Short and to the point. I did have to listen twice to it though to figure out the ending. But, it was worth it.

Good short story.

The narrator read it a little fast, otherwise it had a good twisty turn at the end.

Justice Prevails

Quick read. Sometimes things turn out the way they should, especially if the ending is helped along by an unexpected source.

Very Interesting Novella Read Twice

I, too, had to listen to the story twice. It was very imaginative but hard to figure out the conclusion at first. Overall, it was good, and I am glad that I could listen to the whole novella in one sitting, or should I say I could listen twice in one sitting. I recommend it, but be advised to pay close attention as you read.
