Thrilling pulp well pefromed

This is another in the all too brief line of Doc Savage performances that Audible studios did. The Land of Always Night is a classic pulp adventure featuring Doc Savage and his men. Well performed, this audiobook combines modern production values with the feel of old time radio for a terrific combination. I really wish Audible would consider doing more of these and those of The Shadow by Walter Gibson writing as Maxwell Grant.

Return to the pulp greatness of Doc Savage

Clark Savage Jr, Doc Savage, returns in another excellent audio adaptation of one of the original pulp stories. This is closer to an old time radio show, then an audio book. A narrator follows the story but there are various voice actors, as well as sound effects to make the story seem "more real". This adds to the excitement.

While I have read a lot of the original stories, this is one that, for some reason, I hadn't ever read previously.

Without giving too much away, it involves a mysterious item, a lost civilization, and plenty of excitement. If you are familiar with pulp fiction from the 30s this follows the formula of action and thrills aplenty.

The recording is quite well done and the various voices really made me feel like I was listening to the characters speaking. To me at least, they seemed to capture the descriptions of the various people.

My one complaint, and that isn't anything anyone could help, is that the story isn't longer. The original stories weren't as long as the newer stories written by Will Murray as Kenneth Robeson, so that makes an audio recording short too.

Overall I would recommend this to fans of Doc Savage, pulp fiction, and classic audio adventure.

An airship

Great action narration and finding a lost civilization. I was a little tired of the main bad guys at the end, but it did not interfere with the good story.

"Well, I'll be super amalgamated!"

This audiobook was my first experience with Doc Savage, and I'll definitely be listening to some more. The story was extremely thrilling, and I had no idea what direction it would go in at any time. I found the characters interesting as well, Doc Savage and his five men being particularly likeable.
The production on this this is also top notch, including both musical flourishes and an extensive voice cast that was perfectly selected (the actors for "Watches" Bowen and Doc himself were the standouts).
Highly recommended!

Doc and his crew face an underground civilization

Doc Savage at his best here. Facing off against weird killers, mobsters, and a lost civilization with weird technology. Book is a lot of fun and performed by a cast rather than a narrator. This gives it a radio drama feel that is perfectly in keeping with the character.

If you like the pulps, get this.
I hope for many, many more in the series.

Hear Doc speak ... and Monk too

I enjoyed the voice talent on this recording. They did a great job bringing Doc and the others to life.
