Publisher's summary

Forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway changed her life - until a convicted killer tells her that four of his victims were never found, drawing her back to the place she left behind.

Everything has changed for Ruth Galloway. She has a new job, home, and partner, and she is no longer North Norfolk police’s resident forensic archaeologist. That is, until convicted murderer Ivor March offers to make DCI Nelson a deal. Nelson was always sure that March killed more women than he was charged with. Now March confirms this and offers to show Nelson where the other bodies are buried - but only if Ruth will do the digging.

Curious, but wary, Ruth agrees. March tells Ruth that he killed four more women and that their bodies are buried near a village bordering the fens, said to be haunted by the Lantern Men, mysterious figures holding lights that lure travelers to their deaths.

Is Ivor March himself a lantern man, luring Ruth back to Norfolk? What is his plan, and why is she so crucial to it? And are the killings really over?

Plenty of Plot Twists

I love Elly Griffiths' stories, and enjoyed this one thoroughly. The plot twists kept me guessing. I just can't see the everlasting attraction to Harry. Ruth should move on!

Pretty good

I wouldn't say it's the best in the series but it's still pretty good.

I could have done without hearing the narrator swallowing all the time but hey it happens. The woman that does the "Thank you for being a recorded books listener" sound very depressed.

I won't go into details about the book cause the summary describes it well enough. I can also accidentally give things away.

Perfection

I enjoyed everything about this title. I was eagerly waiting for this new book in the series and I wasn't disappointed. The narrator was perfect as was the story. The only downside is that I now have to wait for the next one.

Entertaining and surprising!

My only minor not so positive comment is when the narrator speaks for Frank, it’s a little off putting. Other than him the other voices are great, especially Ruth and Katie! I don’t want the series to end!

Another interesting novel by E Griffiths

I’ve been a fan of this series for years now because there are always interesting mysteries and the main characters are like able and well developed. This novel had some interesting twists that kept me guessing who the murderer was. Enjoyable

good installment in series

I enjoyed this book and thought it better than the last one. Wished there was more of Ruth doing her work in this installment.
The narrator trying to do an American accent was painful. I did not mind the sound of phone conversations sounding different. I thought it was an interesting audio effect.

Great story/Narration Just OK

I enjoy Elly Griffiths Ruth Galloway series but the voices the narrator gives the male characters is distracting. I always notice that its a British woman trying to sound like an American male or in Nelson's case like a British with an Irish affectation to his speech. Maybe it's just me.
