About this listen

The demons have been defeated, along with their masters. At last, the Collen Basin is at peace.

But that peace is a lie. The prince of Mallon is conspiring to wage war on Collen — and young Cally is the only one who knows of his scheme.

He and his new girlfriend Myla rush to the basin to warn them. Yet the Colleners have only just begun to react when the Mallish vanguard arrives in force. Led by Inquisitor Vara, they swiftly take the city's children hostage — and deliver an offer of peace from the king.

With no idea if they can trust this offer, the rebel leaders send Cally and Myla to the Oracle of Kela, hoping the seers can help them avert disaster. Getting to the Oracle is a dizzying nightmare, but the answers it gives Cally will soon send him to an even more hellish trial.

For hell is always deeper than you think. As Myla abandons him to return to Collen, Cally must travel into the deep desert alone. He doesn't even know what he's searching for. Only that the Oracle told him he must.

And that the future of all Collen depends on what he might find there.

another good story

Love his work. not quite as compelling as his previous but very well done. His prose carried the story when the plot approached the mundane in the middle. The climax was very engaging. the narrator was as superb as usual.

Good cycle story

Excellent continuation of of Caleys cycle. Complete with an epic adventure to retrieve a powerful artifact to help his quest
I really enjoy Ed’s writing but taking on 3 books at one time is a challenge even for the prolific writer he is. And it leaves me the reader a long time in between sections of the story and I had to go back to the previous book to catch up on where it left off Frustrating at best
The book on “The Order” was new and really promising. Hope to see it again soon. As well as my favorite Galand

Amazing backstory of Callie

I loved the other cycle books, where Callie was a minor yet critical figure. Now, to have his backstory , is wonderful.

I had my doubts but is a good one!

I'm such a huge fan of EWR's first two "Cycle of" series that it was just a given that I'd love the Cycle of the Scour series. But, I found Cali's story a little hard to embrace at first. This second story was a much better installment, though, especially since TGR is doing the narration. Cali has matured into a fine warrior wizard, worthy of the likes of Dante' to come.
This prequel sequel was really good! The Edward/Tim team is a winning one.

Great continuation

Excellent story. Callie continues to mature and develop additional powers. TGR turns in another great performance. Thoroughly enjoyable story. Very much looking forward to the next book as Callie's story continues.

Fun all the way

There's something about Edward Robertson's writing that just hooks me in, I finished this book in two days and the whole trilogy in a week. They aren't complex, just fun action packed, wit tongued adventures, and that's perfect for in between denser books.
