Publisher's summary

Jack Tobin, a Florida trial lawyer, is dedicated to ending capital punishment one prisoner at a time. Jack is convinced that doomed convict Henry Wilson is innocent, but can he delay execution and get Henry a new trial in time?

Benny Avrile is a small-time crook with his eye on an oilman's big billfold. But as he makes his move, a shot rings out and the oilman falls dead; Benny blacks out. Just when his fate is all but sealed, an old friend from Jack's past reaches out

The clock is ticking, two innocent men are facing the death penalty, yet the one person who Jack most wants to save - his beloved wife, Pat - may have the least time of all.

Always a good read!

I have read or listened to all of John Sheehan’s books. Every book has an interesting plot and twist. They keep you engaged. Love the characters and the courtroom drama. The narrator does an amazing job!

Guessing Game

Just enough mystery to hold the reader's attention - and some good suspense.

Enjoying the Narrator

I am really enjoying this book - the writing is engaging and the narrator excellent. The "choppy" parts are when the character and his wife are jogging and is quite good in creating an image. His ability to change his voice with the characters is EXCELLENT! No "he said" "she said" with each sentence and you can really follow the conversations.

Descriptions are clear and really create a picture. Good so far (I am about 2 hours in).

Sappy

I struggled to finish this book because the sappy, clich? ridden dialogue became unbearable. I held on hoping a decent story would unfold. As it turned out the story had potential but the poor writing style stripped it of all suspense or drama.
