About this listen

A brilliant and dogged young trial lawyer in San Francisco risks everything he holds dear to bring the most dangerous legal adversary in town to justice.

Down on his luck after a string of lost cases and a recent divorce, personal injury lawyer Matt Taylor hopes his next trial will be an easy win. But when he meets a devastatingly injured young man desperate for help, Matt finds himself embroiled in an impossible lawsuit against Salvatore Conte, a powerful lawyer with sinister connections. Despite all warnings, Matt courageously pulls out all the stops to uncover the truth and right a horrific legal wrong. What follows is an epic multi-million-dollar battle of wills, intrigue, and outright violence that could cost Matt everything he cares about - his career, his family, his heart...and his life.

I follow Audible Listener Shelley (Raleigh, NC) (1) because our fiction preferences are similar and (2) because she finds and reviews wonderful novels that I would not likely find. If you are interested in the mystery/thriller genre you should consider following Shelley and giving her the helpful votes she richly deserves. ACTS OF OMISSION by James S Bostwick is the most recent find by Shelley.

This novel is easily the best legal thriller I have read in years. I awarded John Grisham's recent release The Guardians 5 stars. ACTS OF OMISSION is a much better legal thriller than The Guardians, but 5 stars are the maximum I can award it. Read Shelley's excellent review for more information. By the way, the narration is also outstanding.

This is the first book by James S Bostwick. Who is he? Upon investigating I find that he is a septuagenarian California lawyer so we likely should not expect many more releases from him. He is also one of the top civil lawyers in the US and he heads his own (large) law firm.

Very highly recommended!

I Couldn’t put the story down. I didn’t want it to end. I hope he writes a sequel. I want to know how their story continues.

A real psychological thriller.

Book was good but had a very predictable ending, something good for a rainy day

I really enjoyed the story and the twists and turns that ensued, and it was nice not to hear any cursing or vulgarity. However, the details regarding Matt’s sexual encounters were not necessarily, and for me, disappointing, especially when they didn’t lead to a relationship with his partner. Not to spoil anything, it was nice that the story ended on an encouraging note.

Great story with one exception.
