About this listen

Task Force 3 is Star Watch’s elite deployment unit against any surprise threats to the Commonwealth.

A mysterious enemy appears 40.7 light years from Earth. Task Force 3 deploys but fails to defend a populated planet against a massive alien Annihilator. Then the task force is sucked through a rip in the space-time continuum, disappearing with the enemy.

This is a nightmare situation. How do you defend against an evil that can appear anywhere and uses technologies beyond our comprehension?

The crew of Victory is ordered to find the answers, and if possible rescue the lost task force.

Captain Maddox, Valerie, and Galyan face their most horrific and mind-numbing challenge yet, crossing boundaries they didn’t know existed.

The Lost Task Force is book 18 in the Lost Starship series, a multiverse-spanning saga of deadly space war and planetary struggles as told by millions-best-selling author Vaughn Heppner.

Generally awesome with a caveat

I greatly appreciate the Lost Starship series; however, I find it increasingly wearisome to encounter the frequent inclusion of Bible and Christianity references within the narrative. Given the series' resolute science fiction nature, these religious allusions appear incongruous with the overarching themes and events depicted. As the characters delve deeper into the enigmatic aspects of the universe and its origins, it is only natural for them to question the existence of a creator or similar forces based on the contextual information presented. Regrettably, the author's endeavors to interweave certain characters' references to a Christian God and the Bible feel conspicuously heavy-handed and contrived. This intrusion disrupts the suspension of disbelief and creates the perception that the author is overtly advocating his personal religious convictions, rather than allowing the characters to harbor credible beliefs that arise organically from their respective contexts and circumstances.

Religious beliefs of the main character

I find the people who complain about the main characters religious beliefs pretty intolerant and tedious. The religious mentions are very minimal and if you don’t like them, skip ahead. That way, you can listen to some of the beliefs the aliens have about their creators. This is a book of fiction and nobody is preaching their beliefs to you. This is just the beliefs of a fictitious character you intolerant busy bodies who have nothing better to do than complain about petty concerns. These books are awesome!!

Always an excellent story.

Excellent book series. In the last book, the thought of Maddax training people to take his place seems like a good choice.

Vaughn Heppner knocked it out of the park with this one!

It takes a certain type of writer after 18 books to make a story so fresh and character growth so satisfying. I hope there will be another 18 books to come. I think this book stands out as one of my favorites among the series.

On a side note I have read some reviewers complaining about Christian references. I am glad the author has the fortitude to do this and not make his universe Godless.
To the reviewers that complain, I ask where is your tolerance of other beliefs that you do not hold. It is easy to say the mantra of tolerance but when you ask the Author to stop reflecting something that he wanted in his characters just because they do not align with your belief... you show that your tolerance is really an ugly form of intolerance.

In the literary medium I had encountered words and beliefs that do not align to my own but I have never asked the Author to self censor. I believe thee literary platform should be open to many ideas and the reader can reject by deciding not to buy the book. There should be freedom of speech and freedom of ideas.

Ok standing down from my soapbox. This is a 10 star book and I only have 5 stars to give!

Another great story in the series

It’s another great story in the series (i’ve listened to all the previous books). I love the voice characterizations that the narrator provides.

Running out of gas

Have enjoyed the series as solid escapism with interesting characters. Starting noticing a lot of repetitive scenarios a few books back, but now it's becoming tedious. Also, writing is tending towards laziness and it's more difficult to suspend disbelief while reading (a super intelligent AI would say "goo monster"?). Also, there's some weird incongruent moments injected, almost like a pastor on a censor board said "you should inject a group prayer here." ... just odd. The narration continues to be top notch however ... kudos there.
