About this listen

When Napoleon and his fire-breathing dragons menace all of Europe, Mr. Darcy and his mage powers are England's last hope in the second book of Fitzwilliam Darcy, Mage.

Danger awaits in France, where Darcy must complete his mission for England while fighting to return to his beloved Elizabeth. But when he finally comes face to face with Napoleon, Darcy discovers the tyrant's dark secret—one that threatens the survival of England and everyone Darcy loves. Now, he is on the run, trapped behind enemy lines with no hope of escape.

Back at Pemberley, Elizabeth discovers Darcy's grave danger through their entwined magic. Accompanied by her trusted dragon, she sets forth on her own perilous journey to bring him home. But finding him is only the beginning, and Darcy and Elizabeth must work together to face magical traps and a relentless manhunt. As their love and magic are put to the ultimate test, will they be able to overcome the obstacles and save England from certain doom?

Great continuation to the story

Loved this second book in the series, I hate that we have to wait for the third release. I want it NOW 😝 I love AR's stories with the fae and I love her cast of characters that are not from P&P. Frederika and Jasper are favs!

This book (series) does not follow the normal P&P storyline, in fact it's pretty much a complete departure, but you still feel like the characters are true to themselves. This book continues the story from the first book where Elizabeth is a dragon companion and FWD is coming to accept that dragons aren't evil killers. Like all my fav P7P versions, you get to watch their love and respect for each other grow through trials, instead of just happening overnight. The cast of characters is amazing, most of them are not true to canon, but they all have wonderful personalities and make the story quite exciting.

I've listened to this twice already (I purchased it only a few days ago) and I'm sure will re-listen a few more times prior to book 3 - which 🤞 is released really soon!!!!

Narration is amazing, I love Elizabeth Klett from AR's other stories, her voice is so friendly. And Harry Frost is one of the masters in the category!

Amazing!! Dragons, danger, and the Darcys!

OMG this trilogy just keeps getting better!! This is Book 2 of 3 and you definitely need to read Book 1 - Spellbound at Pemberley - first. Darcy departs for his mission to aid in an attempt on Napoleon while Elizabeth stays at Pemberley, expecting their 1st child. Darcy’s cousin Lady Frederica Fitzwilliam returns to keep Lizzy company.
Darcy’s mission goes horribly awry but he manages to escape with crucial information about Napoleon that he frantically sends to Elizabeth through their bond. Cerridwen, Elizabeth’s companion dragon, relates to Elizabeth that in her far sight visions they have to rescue Darcy from France or all she sees in fire, death and destruction. Despite her pregnancy Elizabeth makes her way to France to find him but the race is on as she must find him and they must return home before he is captured and before she has her baby.

The tension and drama in this is palpable with Darcy especially in mortal danger throughout. The narrators do a fantastic job of conveying the emotions of fear, hope, joy and love throughout. The author definitely has some twists and surprises in store.

Keeps one on the edge of your seat

To fully grasp and enjoy this book, you need to read/listen to book one. If you have done that, you will enjoy returning to this world of hidden dragons and land magic. Darcy and Elizabeth continue to struggle with learning to trust one another and the secrets they have even as their love for each other grows. Darcy’s mission continues to loom in the midst of their relationship. More mysteries and secrets are revealed but the question is how will this affect Darcy‘s mission, their trust and love, and their unborn child. Darcy does some serious soul-searching and growth in his time away from home. Many things will keep you on the edge of your seat and beg for book 3. Thankfully we are not left with too many cliffhangers and feel satisfied at the end.

I also got the audiobook when it came out. That made this story even better! Elizabeth Klett and Harry Frost partnered up beautifully to bring even more life and emotion to this book. This will be a series I will gladly read and listen to again!

Pride and Prejudice with Magic, Dragons, evil Fae and a secret Mission in the heart of France

This began right where the huge cliffhanger of book one ended. So much happens in this book. Many secrets are revealed. Layer upon layer kept adding to the heart of the story. In the first section there are arguments and misunderstandings. Darcy is still trying to perfect the spellcasting he needs for his mission in France. Elizabeth is trying to understand her duties and bond with the land and people of Pemberley. Neither goes smoothly. But the couple’s love strengthens into an unbreakable bond through this.
There’s action and suspense galore when Darcy leaves for his mission in France. Lots of changes and revelations are happening around Pemberley at the same time. Happily though this book didn’t leave readers dangling off the cliff’s edge like the first. Much is resolved, even more hinted at. I can’t wait for the final confrontation in book 3.
Harry Frost and Elizabeth Klett both did a spectacular job narrating, with the transitions between their sections smooth.

Stellar

Exciting book 2 of the Magic series. Angst, suspense, discoveries and peaceful ending. No abrupt clifie but open ended set up for book 3. Narrative is on point! You very easily recognize each character. Can't wait for the next book! Hope it hits Audible very soon after release with Harry Frost at the helm. Amps up the excitement.
