About this listen

Theus is sold into servanthood by his poverty-stricken family and taken by his kindly master on a journey across a continent, following the course of the Landwide River. From there, he begins to learn the secrets of the memory stones, the extraordinary objects that can store information for people.

As Theus learns more about the world beyond his family's farm, learning to handle weapons and combatting the turbulent world around him, he discovers that the beautiful daughter of a high noble family, Coriae, is far beyond a commoner's reach - but he can dream.

Evil powers brewing in far-off places are spreading chaos across the world, and Theus becomes snared in troubles that seem to have nothing to do with him, until he finds that he has fallen into the center of the evil.Desperate to escape, Theus struggles to overcome the battles he's faced with. He almost seems to be back on track towards the success he has envisioned for himself. But evil is not ready to let him go so easily.

a great journey for fantasy fans

this story is a journey that had me addicted. I listened straight through. after the third attempt to get past the first hour or two. it reminded me of books like "Name of the Wind" or maybe "Fates Forsaken". anyhow check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Good book but..

Any additional comments?

I didn't like the ring plot hole, that kinda ruin it. I don't like when characters act stupid. Other than that is better than most book out there, a good listen if you have nothing to listen at the moment.

Fun, Clean story

I am currently enjoying the second book in the series The Memory Stone by Jeffrey Quyle. Clean and enjoyable, this story follows the many adventures of Theus as he endeavors to combat evil and make sense of his newly found unique talents and magical abilities.

There is an aspect of romance in this book; however, it is not a lustful "romance". It is a romance truly born out of love and respect. That is one of the many reasons I like the book.

I also enjoy the book because a lot of the characters in the book are simply "good-people." Many times in books and movies the protagonist is one of only a few good people; he/she faces insurmountable odds against many ill-meaning and questionable characters. However, in this book, many of the characters are truly good-people. And, with the hostility in our society these days, it is simply refreshing to read a book with so many good-people in it.

There is a strong chance this series will be added to my favorites list. However, I will have to wait and see how the series ends.

Update 1/5/19: this series was added to my "favorites" list.

Great book

I really enjoyed the book. It has a great premise and the plot is well executed.

Two problems (that don’t ruin the book). First, the MC is often dense. He doesn’t act or react like a real person. I could give examples but I don’t want to give spoilers. Second, I hate the ending. If he had time to go to Gloria’s then he didn’t have to leave that night that was kind of a weird forced interaction.

A Kind Read

I'm reading a lot of this genre lately as I recover myself from a serious illness. This was a very enjoyable tale set in a well thought out fantasy world. While there are mature themes, there's no overt smut, nor blood and guts so it's suitable for youngsters, but wouldn't disappoint adults either. I'll be reading the second installment for sure.

Just excellent

I really enjoy how the author wrote this book.
It’s a beautiful story I would highly recommend.
It’s great for keeping da and adults super interesting and the narrator also did a great job.

Genuine Surprise

I wasn’t sure how to feel about it at first, I stumbled onto this because I had the narrator for other books. He does a wonderful job here as well as the Witcher.
For the Book, there maybe some cliche parts but they are done so we’ll that I found I couldn’t stop listening. There are also technically 2 books inside on this one which was a nice little surprise.
When it comes to the fantasy parts it’s interesting as well, kind of down to earth as well, the magic system that is being shown seems new and interesting along with alchemy. It’s a breathe of new fresh air in my honest opinion. Well worth giving it a shot!

this actually books 1, and 2

I read the 4 books in like 3 nights! I also did this with this book lol. much of the swash buckling, pain, and growth of the main character you got from the books are brought to life by a good nararrator. good read and good listen!

Entertaining and enjoyable

This is not a heavy duty sort of story. It’s a great story, similar in some ways to the Harry Potter stories (rated PG, I’d let my kids listen to it) but it was well done so it was a really lovely escape. I especially like the good vs evil vs crappy stuff happens sometimes and we have to deal with it and move on.

When is book two going to be released on audio?

I enjoyed the mood of this book. However I do not like your minimum 15 word requirement for this review.
