About this listen

From crime writer Steve Cavanagh comes another gripping audiobook featuring lawyer Eddie Flynn. This is the legal thriller listeners have been waiting for.

An innocent client. A wife in jeopardy. Who will take The Plea?

Billionaire David Child swears he didn’t murder his girlfriend, Clara. But the evidence overwhelmingly shows that David killed her: the security video showed no one else entering their apartment, the murder weapon was in his car, and he was covered in gunshot residue he can’t explain.

The FBI believes David’s arrest and obvious guilt could help them take down a huge money-laundering scheme - if they can get him to testify.

Con-artist-turned-lawyer Eddie Flynn is given the job: persuade David to plead guilty and give the agents the evidence they need. If Eddie can’t get David to take a plea bargain, the FBI has incriminating files on Eddie’s wife - and will send her to jail. But David insists that he didn’t murder anyone.

As the FBI pressures Eddie to secure the guilty plea, Eddie becomes increasingly convinced that David is telling the truth. With adversaries threatening, Eddie has to find a way to prove David’s innocence and find out if there’s any way he might have been framed. But the stakes are high: Eddie’s wife is in danger. And not just from the FBI....

Just recently discovered the author and now a fan. Thrills and twists throughout. You find yourself trying to figure out how Flynn will get out of the latest mess.

I put this this right up there with The Firm, The Verdict and Presumed Innocent. Eddie Flynn is a fascinating character and tge plot actually seemed plausible. The current news lent even more credence to the story, with corruption that's been uncovered at the top tier of the Justice Department the last few months.

I loved every minute of the narrator's reading, which seemed natural and New York through and through . Was very sad to see that The Liar and Thirteen are not available in Audible format. And I was shocked to read that Cavanaugh is an Irish barrister. Go figure.

It's my first Steve Cavanaugh book, and now I have to read the first Eddie Flynn Book. This is one fantastic Courtroom roller coaster of a ride, and I'm not ready to get off!

Best courtroom thriller in years

This book really just pulls you in. A well thought out thriller. As in the last book, the transition from scene to scene was not quite seamless causing me to have to rewind and figure out how I got from one place to another. Other than that, great read (or listen).

Solid narrator. Brought the character to life!

Solid fan now

I listened to all three of Cavanagh's book featuring Eddie Flynn in one week! This character is a cross between Harry Anderson in TV's Night Court and The Lincoln Lawyer with a little bit extra throw in. Each book is a stand alone story that thrills. Can't wait for another.

Refreshingly different - enthrolled!

I’m an avid reader and listener and it’s always great to find an exciting new author. I read outstanding reviews on Steve Cavanagh’s new book Thirteen but wanted to read the 1st in the Eddy Flynn series. The Plea is the best legal thriller I’ve read or listened to in years. Can’t wait to read the other book in the series. And Adam Sims is an outstanding narrator.

My Favorite Book This Year

I can not get enough of this Steve Cavanagh book series! I'm on a binge. Adam Sims narration takes me right into the story as if a deep confidence is being bestowed upon me by the main character. non stop thriller mystery twists and turns all in play around criminal court battles. There is something for everyone that loves a great read.

narrator knocks it out of the park!

I have seen a handful of great non-stop action movies in my time. Their pace keeps your breathless till the end - but to find this in a book is really amazing - and to find it in two books in a row - wow! I'm a big fan of Michael Connelly books and others in the genre but this takes it to another level. I just listened to "the Defense" (read that first, BTW) closely followed by "The Plea." Maybe from the first book I figured out a twist or two in the Plea but they both have the same "how could he possibly get out of this" thing going.

I just loved both of these though now I have to find the discipline not to just plunge into "13." I'll probably have to find and physically read "the Cross" and "the Liar" first. Steve Cavanagh if by some chance you read the reviews on your books on audible, I just want to say thank you. Nicely performed too. 5* Can't wait for the movies of the books - are they being made?

Outstanding ... my new favorite author
