About this listen
There's no rest for the wicked… or the dead they've left behind.
It's been four years since the Hartnett House Massacre. Four years since Whitley Adams rescued her sister, Nora, from a nightmare she herself still struggles to escape.
When a documentary filmmaker expresses interest in telling their story, Whitley's sister believes it could be the answer to all their troubles. A chance to finally confront their past, and move on with their lives once and for all.
The past isn't the only thing waiting at Hartnett House. More than memories roam its forgotten halls. More than shadows lurk behind its dark, unwashed windowpanes. Something sinister has awaited Whitley's return since that fateful night four years ago, biding its time for one thing, and one thing only...
Revenge.

Story
Connie can't deny she's nervous about meeting her boyfriend's family. Spending the weekend at their ritzy woodland summer home, Evan's already given her fair warning that his parents are cold, snobbish, and especially unpleasant toward those outside their usual social circles. So when Evan's mother warmly greets them with open arms, Connie is as confused as he is. They're so friendly, in fact, Evan himself can hardly believe they're real. Then, while helping Evan's mother with dinner, Connie overhears strange noises coming from the basement—what almost sounds like voices calling out for help.

Spellbinding horror. This isn't your cozy, broomstick-riding fairy tale...When Maria Jenkins awakens late one night in her family's motel room and witnesses her younger brother, Michael, sleepwalking out into the desert moonlight, her family trip is plunged into a gruesome nightmare...because the sprawling wasteland outside their door isn't nearly as lifeless as it seems....Deep in the desert hills of Nevada, a forgotten evil emerges with a lust for sacrifice. Beneath their black-hooded robes, cackling under the veil of night, they're on the hunt for new blood.

Great installment
I have come to expect nothing less than a great story with original concepts, twists, and turns from author Abe Moss. This story did not fail in that. One of my favorite authors, I recommend Abe Moss to anyone who loves horror, and wants a story unlike most others out there.

Only 1 complaint
The story was great, extremely creepy… the narration ruined it for me. The valley girl whiny voice was horrible and became annoying. Besides that, it was a good listen.

Good Book!
The story was good. The beginning had me wanting them to get on with it. The sister dialogue seemed extended to me but could just be me. Once the story really began it had me guessing what was going on. I enjoyed the story. The time traveling back and forth through me off here and there without looking at the chapter titles. I got used to it.
One criticism I did have was the voice actors voicing Nora almost valley girl twang at the end of her statements. I have a book out and for some reason voice actors seem to do this. I had to tell my VA to make sure to not turn the character into a valley girl. So it annoyed me. The other thing was Hannah the interviewers voicing was performed like a seductive voice. It through me off to hear this. If a character would not talk like that in real life, they wouldn’t in the page. Most of the time it was fine, but there were times I couldn’t tell if she was interviewing or trying to seduce someone. Voices can take you out of the story.
All and all the story was good! A solid 4.
