About this listen

When the delightful, daffy Dog Lady of station WZZZ offered to take on the temporary job of traffic reporter, Steve Crow tried to think of reasons to turn Daisy Adams down. Perhaps he knew that sharing the close quarters of a car with her for hours would give the handsome program director no room to resist her quirky charms. He'd always favored low-slung sports cars and high-heeled women, but that was before he fell for a free spirit who caught crooks by accident, loved old people and pets, and had just too many jobs!

Loving Daisy turned Steve's life upside down, especially once he adopted Bob, a couch potato masquerading as a huge dog. But was Daisy finally ready to play for keeps?

The Rocky Road to Romance

I absolutely love the story, it was kind of short, but awesome. I laughed so hard when he got a dog named Bob to impress Daisy. Then he bought an SUV to bring Bob home. And, unfortunately Bob is a female! And she had puppies! I am so excited that Daisy is going to marry Steve Crow, and be his wife. Now that she has a baby, that is so exciting. I laughed when Steve fainted at the thought of being a father! I truly love the story.

LIght and fluffy does it.

This was my wife's choice and I decided to give it a listen. The narator is perfect - her vocalization of each character produced images of real people. While the story line is too predictable, it brought a welcome change to a steady diet of murder, intrige and mayhem. Don't expect much substance, however overall this is a delightful story with characters who are totally beliveable. Well done to both author and narrator.

Not doing it for me.

I began listening but had to stop C. J. Critt's voice just annoyed the hell out of me. The Stephanie Plum series is getting repetitive. I have all of them but decided not to buy the last one, so I borrowed it from our library. Started it and after 4 chapters I gave up. These stories are getting stale. I'm not a writer but I do know what I like to listen to and Ms. Evanovich isn't cutting it for me. Unfortunately I already purchased her latest Knight and Moon, I hope it's better, or no more Evanovich for me.

Cozy using a bad version of the Evanovich playbook

Like her Stephanie Plum series, this book features an earnest, but danger prone, working gal finding love with a tall, dark, and over-protective guy. The similarities include a dog named Bob and an elderly woman with a gun in her purse. But, everything here is a paler, more cringe version.

You know those guys who order for the gals without having a clue what those gals would like? Yeah, that’s Steve. Only Steve is her boss, and he manages her from go. He’s also a spoiled rich manipulator, who gets a dog, car, and a house to further his con and get in her pants … only it isn’t funny or sexy.
The matronly narration for her, and not sexy narration for him didn’t help. You know a rom-com is in trouble when the narrator’s best voice is the old lady. I’m partly relieved the naughty bits faded to black.
