About this listen

"Alexandra Scott, Alaskan Wilderness Woman". It had a terrific ring to it, but Alex felt a sudden twinge of uncertainty. She'd traded in her Wall Street job and fancy condo for a rundown cabin in the woods and a bait and tackle store. She'd wanted to escape the rat race and to go husband hunting where men outnumbered women four to one, but was she ready for the challenge?

Then she spotted Michael Casey, a sexy pilot who was undaunted by disaster, had hero written all over him, and was a confirmed bachelor. Michael Casey was the man she had come to Alaska to hunt, and Alexandra Scott had him in her sights.

Lots of Fun

This is an incredibly fun romp. Jersey girl goes to Alaska to find a husband with her overweight dog. Ends up meeting the man of her dreams. However, needs to live in cabin with an outhouse to prove it.

This is a light, laugh a minute story that will leave cars next to you wondering what you're smiling about.

Strongly recommended to all Evanowich fans. This is BY FAR the best of her earlier works. It has the same witty dialog that makes her current books so popular.

Fluff

Just a bit of fluff if you're bored & don't need to think about anything. Not well researched, remember it doesn't get dark in Fairbanks AK in the summer, it's light all night. And raccoons? Bears yes, raccoons, not living in northern AK.

Wonderful Characters and Delightful Story

What a joy. I just loved the characters, the dialogue and the story. I'll listen to more Evanovich.

A lot of fun!

It was a fun listen! It had me laughing out loud! Having moved to Alaska 3 yrs ago, I can semi relate to the main female character, Alex, and laugh at how some of her experiences were similar to mine. Janet Evanovich did a great job in her research! If you want to gain an idea of what it might be like to live in Alaska for the late fall/early winter, have a listen!

Not the best of Evanovich.

You can tell this was written by Evanovich before she struck gold with Stephanie Plum. The story is flat and one dimensional. There are really only 2 characters until the middle of the story and the additional characters really were just part of the background and scenery. There are no subplots. No cliffhangers. However, the story holds your attention and keeps you entertained. CJ Critt is again, an amazing narrator. Definitely worth a listen, but don't expect to remember this story later. It is utterly forgettable.

Note: I really hated how Alex's only real goal was to find a husband and I hated how she announced it to Casey. And kept announcing it. Annoyingly. We get it, she wants a family. Her behavior was weak and tacky. But I guess since this story was written in the 80's that makes a little more sense than it does for today.

Fun light read

This is a fun book that will interest you on a lazy day. Not a bad book and not a "WOW" book. It's a good easy listen.

Narrator Too Theatrical

The narrator reads this book like an old episode of I Love Lucy. It would’ve been a 5 star for sure if it was read like that.

Alaskan Bush Babe

City living to mountain survival or”roughing it”.Life isn’t simpler in mountain living.Using an outhouse in any weather, grow, catch and kill your own food.Isolation.A guy would have to be really something for me to rough it like that.Love my modern conveniences.Story was cute and entertaining.

The price was right

If you are an Evanovich fan, which I am, this is a typical story line from her earlier writings. The price makes the read worth it and the story makes the time on the treadmill a bit more tolerable.
