About this listen

The body lying on its back before us was unquestionably that of the man who had attempted to kill Holmes and I with explosives at Glenbury Gardens. He wore the same dark clothing, although his hat was gone, and the hare lip was a livid scar on his pallid face. Strangely, it crossed my mind that what could be seen of his expression in death was softer than that he had worn in life.

If youre a fan, this dtorh tivks most if the boxes of s clasdic Sherlock story. Mystery, intricate deductions, bystanders, villains and a client who isnt quite who she seems.

The narrator does a great job of becoming the voice of Watson as the story unfolds as if in a diary entry.

Okay, let's be honest: the starting point of this book is hilarious :P Someone manages to put out a 'murder contract' on herself *laughs* Of course, she goes to Holmes looking for help.

But, as usually happens when Holmes is involved, things are more complicated than they seem, and they end facing a Moriarty-like villain, who has his hands in more dirty dealings than you can imagine.

As always, the characters shine, they feel authentic, and the plot is really well done.

A series very worthy of your time.

Really good!

After a great start in Book One, Hall's series stumbled a bit in Book Two. However, Book Three, despite its relative brevity, has returned the Sherlock Holmes pastiche to top form. It may be the compact story and tight pacing that lifted this entry to its heights. In any event, it was a joy to listen to. I highly recommend this book witthout reservations.

The series is back on top
