A captivating story with a narrator that drew me in—I hated having to hit pause! The main character’s magical power comes with tough choices, and the narration fit perfectly. I hope it’s the start of a series. Highly recommended!

What a captivating story, narrated that kept me listening, and disappointed when I had to pause my listening. The main character obtains a special magical power, but he learns it’s not necessarily always a good thing. How he uses it and when leaves him with decisions that are often troubling. The narrators voice seems perfect for the story as it added instant credibility for me as I listened.

Hopefully this is the start of a series. Highly recommended.

This was an exciting story and a fantastic journey. It explores temptation (magic powers) and how this can have an adverse effect and cause struggles both internally and externally. Very nice descriptive writting that creates images in the mind while you listen. Fun, exciting adventure!

Heard this from the hospital... it was actually super fun! Halden’s journey hits all the classic fantasy notes: dark threats, mysterious powers, and a kingdom in peril. Some parts felt a bit predictable, but still had me hooked. A solid coming-of-age tale with heart, action, and just enough mystery. 4/5!
