About this listen

Kidnapped and presumed dead, Kizu returns ten years later – just in time to enroll at an elite magical academy.

His education under the witch who kidnapped and raised him was… unorthodox. Now, three years behind every other student his age, he is ranked as the overall worst student at Shinzou Academy. But Kizu is determined to quickly change that. Not just for the sake of mastering long-denied schools of magic, but to investigate his older sister’s disappearance.

When Kizu was taken, she was the only one who swore to never stop looking. Now it’s his turn to repay the favor.

In order to do that, he’ll need to survive Shinzou Academy first, where the only thing more dangerous than the monsters are the other students.

Study, fight, and ascend the rankings – Kizu will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth.

Magic litrpg academy

Orientation

Karga Kizu was only a child when he was kidnapped by a man eating witch. He lived as her servant for ten years before he was rescued. As the semester was about to start, his family enrolled him into the magical Shinzou Academy upon his return. What is more surprising is when he finds that his now banished sister never gave up looking for him and is now missing herself. Kizu needs to figure out how to navigate this new life he finds himself in and find out what happened to his sister!

This is a great start to a magic academy litrpg! The school setting is very interesting and I’m wanting more of the lore. Each character is well developed and has their own motivations. I’m really excited to see where this one goes in the coming books! Jack Voraces does an excellent job with narration.

A Good Book in a Forest of Mediocre Prog Fantasy

Progression Fantasy is a genre filled by hobbyists and amateurs which is part of why I love it. It’s full of crazy diversity and wild ideas.

…It’s also full of writers who write chapters, not books. Will Wright writes books, not chapters. Will Wright notably has a degree in creative writing and you really can tell. Brandon Sanderson is the same way and says that you can tell the difference between an amateur and professional writer immediately.

This is to say that reading this story, I was unshocked to find the author has an MFA in Creative Writing. It’s immediately obvious to me that this is a pro writer. This is a BOOK, not a series of chapters.

I really cannot wait for the next release!

Amazing!

This story was amazing to listen to! Love the Harry Potter vibs and or inspiration. Also love that the MC has both a familiar and a pro at potion crafting. Love the twist near the end as well like it really did come from left field and throw me off guard like the MC. Narration was also top marks now adding narrator to my list of for sure to keep track of. Looking forward to the next installment can’t wait!

MC Might be Brain Damaged - DNF

I liked the story setting and the plot was fair as well. But the MC is too dumb to live, is the nicest way I can put it. A critical lack of common sense or the ability to to “read the room”. At every point where he has a choice to make, he will choose the stupidest option without any thought to the immediate consequence. Like when he was rescued from the witch who kidnapped him, and made a move to tackle his saviors so she could escape.

Fortunately for him, they teleported her away before he could. But he will go on and continue to be the dumbest kid at magic school and I just can’t handle anymore
