Practical and engaging

If you're someone who loves to dig deeper into conversations and really understand what makes arguments tick, The Socratic Way of Questioning is a must-listen. The audiobook breaks down the timeless method of Socratic questioning in a way that's both practical and engaging.

What I loved about this book is that it doesn’t just tell you to "ask more questions." Instead, it really shows you how to craft the right kinds of questions to get to the heart of any issue. I found the real-world examples super helpful, as they made the method easy to apply in everyday discussions, whether you're navigating a tricky debate or just trying to clarify someone's perspective.

Another highlight is how the book walks you through uncovering hidden assumptions and biases. It gives you the tools to become more persuasive while keeping your arguments logical and respectful. Plus, it emphasizes the importance of humility in conversations — a reminder we can all benefit from.

Overall, this audiobook is perfect for anyone looking to sharpen their critical thinking and communication skills. It's insightful, accessible, and a great guide for leading discussions with clarity and purpose. Highly recommend!

Unlocking the power of questions with Socrates!

This audiobook covers how to ask the right questions to uncover the deeper truths and overall improve your conversations. If you've ever felt lost in a discussion or wanted to make more compelling arguments, this may be for you. It explains how to craft those questions to discover more meaningful answers and reveal hidden truths and biases. The real world examples, while some might consider controversial, I think is necessary. There shouldn't be any stone left unturned in my opinion, especially when it comes to this philosophy! One of my favorite parts is the importance of humility—listening to and understanding others is just as important, if not more important than making your own points known. Overall great listen if you're wanting to navigate tricky conversations with ease and organize/express your thoughts more clearly!

Master the Art of Questions & Deep Conversation

Illuminates the Socratic method in engaging & practical ways, sharpening my ability to ask insightful questions & engage in conversations with elan - much more confidence. The day-to-day examples easily apply & demonstrate all the concepts. I always seem to want a bit more depth in certain areas—in this case, on more ways to handle resistance or misdirection in discussions. However, If you're looking for an extremely solid introduction to critical thinking & persuasive dialogue that goes way beyond just winning arguments, this is an excellent listen.

I particularly loved how it breaks down the art of questioning into clear, actionable steps that I found useable right away. Instead of just telling me to "ask better questions," it actually teaches how to structure questions in a way that exposes all the hidden assumptions & leads to deeper understanding for everyone involved. Emphasizing humility & listening rather than just debating for the sake of winning was quite refreshing for me. I found the narrator’s tone to be engaging without being overly dramatic, which also kept me focused throughout.

Yes, I would have liked a bit more detailed discussion—on how to apply these techniques in high-pressure situations or with more intransigent people who are resistant to introspection, perhaps. While the examples provided were helpful, a few more case studies or breakdowns of practical, common debates might have made the content even stronger. Still, for anyone interested in improving their reasoning skills, asking sharper questions, & engaging in more meaningful discussions, this audiobook offers an outstanding, practical & thought-provoking guide. Highly recommended.

loved listening to this audiobook

This one is all about asking the right questions instead of just blurting out opinions and hoping for the best it lays out the Socratic method in a way that actually makes sense with real world examples that show how to challenge assumptions without coming off as an insufferable know it all. The best part? It’s not just about winning arguments it’s about actually understanding different perspectives and getting people to think deeper. Some examples apparently touch on controversial topics which might rub some people the wrong way but honestly that’s kind of the point. Would’ve been nice to see more strategies for handling people who just refuse to engage in good faith discussion but overall great for anyone trying to communicate smarter.

Critical Thinking is Critical

The Socratic Way of Questioning is an excellent audiobook that explains the importance of critical thinking and logic. As an educator, this is a much-needed skill that can be taught. Using Socrates's philosophy, this audiobook weaves through the process of developing this skill. In my community, there are classes for students that focus on this type of learning. This would be an excellent supplement to this way of learning, teaching, and thinking.
