About this listen

A murder made to look like suicide. Another that appears an accident.

DI Barton investigates the tragedies that have shattered a family’s lives, but without obvious leads the case goes nowhere. Then, when the remains of a body are found, everything points to one suspect.

Barton and his team move quickly, and once the killer is behind bars, they can all breathe a sigh of relief. But death still lurks in the shadows, and no one's soul is safe. Not even those of the detectives…

How do you stop a killer that believes life is a rehearsal for eternity, and their future is worth more than your own…?

Ross Greenwood writes gritty, heart-pounding thrillers, with twists aplenty, and unforgettable endings. Perfect for fans of Mark Billingham and Stuart MacBride.

Is this life a trial for the afterlife?

David grew up being psychologically abused by his mother, who thought that happiness was only for the afterlife. He was also bullied at school. That pathetic little boy grew into a troubled man, who became a police detective with Major Crimes. When David finally snapped, he became a clever serial killer. As much as I like DI Barton and his team, I found myself being sympathetic towards David as we followed his spiral. Well written story.

Obsession at it's best

How many serial killers can one town have? Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone book. Just like The Snow Killer, this story is about a serial killer that definitely had a warped way at looking at life. Unlike the first book, the identity of the killer is known sooner in this story. It's a story about obsession over a woman and killing anyone that gets in the way of that obsession. Good story.

Great Story

Story was well narrated but was filled with lots of killing... Seemed to be too much even for a book like this. Interesting listen.

SO Good! Love DI Barton

DI Barton and his team have their work cut out for them in this book. There are suicides, accidents, and missing persons happening all over the place. Seemingly all is normal with the suicides and accidents. Then they start to piece all of the clues and start to find a very upsetting pattern. Leaving them hunting one of their own, who knows all to well what they will be doing, putting the killer in the drivers seat. Great story, kept me gripped from beginning to end. Excellent narration.

wow

this story was extremely well executed. he did a great bringing me into the mind of a killer. in my humble opinion the soul killer should be up there with the heavy hitters. well done. this book can be consumed alone without its precursor.
