About this listen

The gods brought her back. But was it to stop Valroy, or to become his queen?

Valroy will let nothing block his path to the Unseelie Crown. He is willing to stop at nothing to see both Tir n’Aill and Earth as his dominion, and he'll crush the self-righteous Seelie beneath his bootheels.

He had wished for Abigail to stand beside him as his queen, but that went terribly wrong when she chose death over becoming his bride. It was a setback, certainly, but not one he could not overcome.

Yet despite being wrenched from the song of life, Abigail returns to Tir n’Aill, only to be hunted by both Seelie and Unseelie alike. She does not know why she was returned or for what purpose, but it was clear that two paths lay before her:

Is she to become Valroy’s enemy, or to allow him to make her his queen in chains?

Amazing story

A little irritated I have made it thru 2 books with little to no spice. The narrator still not great but I have gotten fairly used to him now. I feel like book 1 & 2 could have just been one book. There is a lot of filler for no reason. Overall it is still a great story line tho

I will keep listening

I really enjoy these books but I cannot stand the narrator. He is miscast. Posh, poncy, pompous British is so off-base for Valroy. He’s supposed to be so earthy and sexual. Took me right out of the story. Hard pass.

Love the story, but…

In complete honesty, this should have just been condensed in with the 3rd book. There was a little bit of world building, but honestly…. Nothing happened. I think there was maybe 2 significant events…. But everything else was just…. Bland?

Should’ve been condensed

Abigail is getting on my nerves. Literally reminds me of ppl who always put themselves down but loves compliments. Forever "righteous" and everything's about her. I am still listening but feel a bit frustrated in how the storyline is going. Abigail now having to fight against Valroy, the one she loves. I think I will be ticked off if this lingers on into Book 3 or...they finally get together and he dies. 😐 I love the narrator and the versatility of his voice between characters. I am hooked for sure but Abigail is annoying as heck so far. Hoping she'll get to a point of being true to herself, her feelings and stop the constant whining and feign humility.

Mixed Feelings

Nothing has happened. This entire book had literally nothing important happen. And everything in it is just repeating. The only reason I will continue is because I hold hope that something might actually occur.
I never have issues listening to audio but I often drift listing to this.
The voice actor is awful for this. Every single character sounds pompous. All of them. It’s the worst kind of accent that’s usually cast to make one character sound pompous. And yet, the entire book is read that way.
The FMC is getting annoying. She’s supposed to be righteous but then everything has to be about her? Idk. It’s hard to explain.
Again, what else is there to be said other than nothing is happening. It’s not progressing. I keep checking to make sure I’m not repeating chapters. Not even kidding.
If you’re going to not add to the plot, at least world build. But even that isn’t happening. :-/

Why was this even its own book?

Again love the story line! Very unique. But like in book one the narrator sounds to old for his character. He is a wonderful reader but sounds more like a grandfather character instead of a young prince.

Great second story!

Mixed feelings about this one. I am definitely moving on with the series and I absolutely loved the development in Valroy’s character- but I’m getting pretty sick of Abigail stuttering every single line. Her character really needs to start developing soon. I’m not sure I can take much more of her starting each sentence with, “I…(pause)…I…”. Fingers crossed she has some character development beyond - I’m so scared - in the next one. I am still very interested in where the overall plot is headed.

Frustrating, and yet…

Hopefully the third one will do the trick, however, this and the first could/should have been one book

On to the next one

Twists, turns and lots of descriptions. Unfortunately, the characters lack depth. It is still an interesting story but not a page turner. I don’t feel I have a reason to be invested in the characters. The world building is nice and the performance leads the imagination. The story is not riveting but it did keep my attention.
