Publisher's summary

“If Harry Potter has given you a thirst for fantasy and you have not discovered the magic of Terry Brooks, you are in for a treat.” (Rocky Mountain News)

Brave explorers led by the last Druid, Walker Boh, traveled across unknown seas in search of an elusive magic. But now it seems that Walker and his team were lured there for sinister, unforeseen purposes. As the crew aboard the airship Jerle Shannara is being attacked by evil forces, the Druid’s protégé, Bek Rowe, and his companions are being pursued by the mysterious Ilse Witch. Meanwhile, Walker is alone, caught in a dark maze beneath the ruined city of Castledown, stalked by a hungry, unseen enemy. It is alive, but not human, coveting the magic of Druids, elves, even the Ilse Witch. It hunts men for its own designs. It is Antrax: a spirit that feeds off enchantment and traps the souls of men. And with it, the fate of the Four Lands hangs in the balance.

Antrax is great, and it confirms Terry’s place at the head of the fantasy world.” (Philip Pullman, author of The Golden Compass and The Amber Spyglass)

“An engaging read ... fast paced ... Fine storytelling ... Antrax is a satisfying story.” (Associated Press)

great book

Great book by Terry Brooks. I love all of them.

Keating did well with the performance, only criticism I have is the mispronounced battle cry of "Leah" (Lee) normally he pronounced it fine but in the heat of battle mispronounced it more than a few times.

Good

This story is not quite as good as the Ilse Witch, but it is still really good and is worth a listen to, the reading is fair could be a little better not much difference in character voices, but I still love the shannara books.

The abridged books are ok but not great

Some of the pronunciations of words are off when compared to the unabridged books, I would recommend that terry brooks speak with the narrators prior to recording, so uniformity can be maintained.

Abridged...

I only wish that Unabridged was available. Otherwise it would be all 5 Stars.

narrator from the 80s

sounds quality is very low, especially since the previous book had such a great one. the story is fantastic but man the audio is tough to get through.

fantastic story.

can't wait to listen to the last book in this trilogy. the only thing lacking was a better reader. his upper-class British accent just didn't fit properly earlier book reader such as Scott Brick were much better voices for the characterizations.

Abridged...not as good

I don't appreciate abridged audio books, I don't see the purpose, but since there seems to be no other legal copies, this was the better one. I enjoyed the story and the performance, I just wanted more details.

Three books, enthralling

Terry has a way to keep your attention and excitement until the end. The original trilogy just keeps on playing one generation after another.
