Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of College Unbound comes a hopeful, inspiring blueprint to help alleviate parents' anxiety and prepare their college-educated child to successfully land a good job after graduation.

Saddled with thousands of dollars of debt, today's college students are graduating into an uncertain job market that is leaving them financially dependent on their parents for years to come - a reality that has left moms and dads wondering: What did I pay all that money for?

There Is Life After College offers students, parents, and even recent graduates the practical advice and insight they need to jump-start their careers. Education expert Jeffrey Selingo answers key questions - why is the transition to postcollege life so difficult for many recent graduates? How can graduates market themselves to employers that are reluctant to provide on-the-job training? What can institutions and individuals do to end the current educational and economic stalemate? - and offers a practical step-by-step plan every young professional can follow. From the end of high school through college graduation, he lays out exactly what students need to do to acquire the skills companies want.

Full of tips, advice, and insight, this wise, practical guide will help all students, no matter their majors or degrees, find real employment - and give their parents some peace of mind.

MUST READ

Any additional comments?

The book is a must read for parents of college aged kids. Although there are no edicts, the book clearly outlines the different paths available for the young adults of today. The yield of information, which is also the premise, is that the thinking and path of the bachelor degree of the past centuries needs to be left there. This really is a new world.

Great book... Now I need to re-read it!

This is such a great book on so many levels that I need to go back and re-read the hard copy after listening to it on Audible to more closely review the data and resources. As a former career advising professional at a major university who now works primarily with high school students applying to college and recent college grads, this is a must read for high school and college students as well as their families. Reinforces key points from Where You Go Is Not Who You Will Be, as well As David and Goliath.
