This audiobook introduces techniques from a wide range of disciplines to solve problems.

Learn:

  • How to shift your perspective and open up a new world of thought.
  • The process of observation and deduction and how to use it on an everyday basis.
  • How altered states of consciousness contribute to clear thinking and how Einstein and Salvador Dali took advantage of this.
  • How to systematically and consistently think outside the box.
  • Critical thinking and why you shouldn’t take things or people at face value.
  • How to invert, reverse, substitute, adapt, magnify, minimize, lateral, and distance (and more...) your thinking for flashes of genius.
  • How to use reverse brainstorming and the fishbone technique to solve the "crimes" in your life.

Sherlock sees the world for what it is underneath the mask and facade - and so can you.

Overall very average and only semi insightful. Some of the techniques discuss were okay but nothing really mind-blowing.

The Real Deal

The author gives actionable items. If you practice them you will be a better thinker and keener observer. It takes no additional time in your day to practice the skills. I'm better for it.

Good pointers

The intro about Sherlock could have been a lot shorter, but the later insights were very good.

We can all use the skills this book has to teach.

This book helped me realize that I can think more intelligent in ways I didn't think was possible. Showed me ways of solving problems I never knew existed, and overall made me more aware of logical statements about solving issues that are proven to be correct. This book is so helpful to show you to; think outside of the box, take naps if you need to solve big problems and use different techniques to force your brain to process such information. This book explains how Sherlock Holmes would figure out cases in ways you could to. I always thought Sherlock was just amazingly intelligent, which is one part but he uses techniques and knowledge in ways many humans could. But of course we will probably never be as smart as Sherlock. But never say never, this book also states Sherlock does not exclude the impossible, so one day maybe you could be as smart as Sherlock Holmes. In my opinion this is a MUST read book, it includes many amazing examples of ways we can ALL be more intelligent.

Boring AF

I nearly fell asleep twice while listening. The book has maybe 45mns of relevant information. The man tells you a few minutes in that you will never be able to think like Sherlock Holmes...Why write the book then?
