Publisher's summary

As the successful and driven CEO of Lewis Sporting Goods, Dillon rarely has time to eat a home cooked meal, let alone put any time or effort into maintaining an actual relationship. He's been living on fumes and casual encounters for so long that finding love and starting a family never even crossed his mind, until his cousins Gabe and Reardon found women who gave them both.

Laurel has been in love with Dillon since she was nine years old. Unfortunately, he's always seen her as his little sister's pesky best friend. She can't stop her heart from beating frantically whenever he's near, but she's become an expert at keeping her feelings from everyone, especially Dillon. Her secret has been safe, until now....

When Laurel needs help with her business plan, her best friend urges her to seek help from Dillon. Determined to push her feelings aside and focus on her fledgling business, Laurel knows she needs to do whatever it takes to succeed, even if it means being treated to indifference and big-brother teasing from the man she loves.

Can Laurel work with Dillon and still keep her heart intact, or will things get too distracting when Dillon realizes what a beautiful, kind, and generous woman she has become?

Too Distracting is the third in an all-new small-town romance series by Bethany Lopez. Follow the Lewis cousins as they learn about love and loss in Cherry Springs, the kind of place where there are festivals for every occasion and everyone knows your business.

Hotness

The story was definitely "Too Distracting." Once I started, I couldn't put it down. It was HOT. The scenes between the two of them had me fanning myself, and there was enough of a story to draw me in. If you are looking for something to keep your mind off the world at large for a little while, this one will definitely do that. Yum.

Fun and Flirty

Dillon Lewis is the co-owner of Lewis Sporting Goods, him and his sister run the business and are trying to expand. Things are busy in their lives and travelling is constant when scouting for a new location.

Laurel is Dillon's sister's best friend, they have all grown up together and according to Dillon Laurel is just this annoying little girl his sister has always been friends with. The two girls used to prank Dillon endlessly as kids. Laurel has always been in love with Dillon and Dillon is completely blind to it, even though he is the only one. However, now they are both adults and Laurel is a grown woman and wants things with Dillon. Jazzy (Dillon's twin) is an obstacle, although not the only one. Can these two find a happy ever after? It seems easy enough. But sometimes things aren't as easy as they seem.

Now I liked Dillon, however I didn't in the beginning. He is oblivious which irritated me and he is arrogant, but I got it. I understood even when I didn't want to and I sympathized.. somewhat. But Laurel, Laurel was so easy to love and it was so easy to be in her corner. Of course, in the end I was happy and smiling all the same. Again these books are sweet and easy reads, light and fun.

Lacy Laurel is my favorite female narrator, so of course she killed it! She does such a good job with making each character have their own voice. She is so easy to listen to her, I swear she could read the most uninteresting book there is and make it great!

Short enjoyable listen

Audio-book: Narrator – Lacy Laurel

Great narration with so many characters! This narrator did an excellent job of bringing the story of Dillon and Laurel to life. I never had a moment where I wasn’t pulled completely into the story as her voice adapted to each character and each situation.

This was an enjoyable story of two people who had grown up together. Laurel had tormented Dillon and as a result he’s a bit gun shy around her now. However, when they spend the weekend together during an out of town conference, Dillon’s seeing her in a whole new way.

While I liked this couple, I’m not a huge fan of the heroine chasing the hero which is a large portion of this book. That aside, I did enjoy Dillon and Laurel and the steps that occurred to bring them together. Secondary characters were amazing and this is a very fast paced story. The steam is about mid-level and it had a very nice ending.

Great series!

I am loving this series, so was excited to read about Dillon's story. I actually enjoyed the storyline just as I did the other 4 books I've listened to (one was out of order), but the narration kind of ruined it for me. She did a great job for the female voice, but the male voice drove me crazy. Even just saying his name at the beginning of his chapters, uhDillon. There was this strange thing she did with her voice, in addition to sounding more like the story was being read, as opposed to when you listen to the female you feel like you're actually listening to Laurel talk. Great story still though and I'm looking forward to reading about Jasmine next!! I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Friends to lovers

Be careful of your sister's best friend! She is the one to steal your heart! Laurel has been Jasmine's best friend forever and has been in love with Jazz's twin brother Dillon for as long. Now adults, their paths cross when Laurel needs a business plan for her party planning ideas. I never get tired of this trope, the story is always heart warming and I love when couples have a long history. But in this case, it's even better. Dillon, a successful businessman does not have time for relationships, though envies his cousins who have found their soulmates. When Laurel finally does get his attention, there is nothing stopping him from going after her...or is there? Throw an obstacle or two in the way, this friends to lovers/sister's best friend story is sure to have you rooting for a happy ending. Being the third book of the series did concern me a little, but it is a standalone, and is easy to pick up without reading the previous books.

This book has a lot of characters, which for a narrator can be challenging, but Lacy Laurel rises to it and nails the performance. Each character has a distinctive voice, and with Laurel's emotional portrayal takes you through the many facets of the story. I also love the way she can switch from true emotion between Dillon and Laurel to teasing between the Dillon and his cousins. She made this book a joy to listen to.

Loving the Lewis Family

I thought this was a great story for Dillon and Laurel. They are a friends to lovers, unrequited love story. We get to see them realize that they aren't kids anymore and develop real feelings for each other. But with family involved things are not always as easy as you want them to be. This book is another great addition to the Lewis Cousins series.
I thought the narrator did a great job narrating this fun story.

not to the standards of the first two

Reviewing this book is hard. For the first part, I couldn't get over the narrator's voice. I just wasn't a fan, especially compared to the narration of the first two. Then, I couldn't like either character. Laurel was meh and Dillon needed to get over himself.

And then they went to Chicago and the story really picked up and I got into it. Laurel got better and Dillon started redeeming himself.

Ok, so their story started working, BUT the continuity between the 2nd and 3rd just wasn't there. In the second book, Chloe was adamant about not getting married until after the baby, but in this one she was planning the wedding before and was disappointed it wouldn't be until after. Also, in the beginning of the book, Dillon's dogs were Penny and Copper, but at the end of the book they were Penny and Cooper.

The book ended ok, but it just wasn't as good as the first two.

Good story

I really enjoy this group of cousins. Dillon and Laurel grew up together, but Laurel always harbored feelings for Dillon, but never wanted to mess up her relationship with Dillon's twin sister. When Laurel returns to town, Dillon sees her in a new light. These two had great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them fall in love. This is a well written small town romance. Good listen.

The narrator did a good job with this book. At times though the characters were hard to distinguish. It didn't detract from the story though.

Great read

Too Distracting: The Lewis Cousins, Book Three was another great read by Bethany Lopez. Dillon is the CEO of Lewis Sporting Goods and doesn't have much spare time on his hands. Laurel has loved Dillion since she was nine years old, but all he ever saw her as was his little sisters best friend. She seeks help from Dillon with her business plan and tries to fight off her attraction to him. I loved reading Laurel and Dillon's story and can't wait to read more by Bethany Lopez.
