Tower Defense the Book

So to start out, I liked it, but… this felt a lot like an early draft. There were a lot of times where the flow just didn’t make sense. Time skips between breaths, characters taking time when they should be preparing for a fight to have a discussion, a magic system that honestly felt half-baked, and an almost whiplash of action to slow pace then back to action. It’s doubly confusing as David Burke normally writes books that are NOT like that. There is a really good story here, it just needed more polish.

Fantastic narration by Rebecca Woods as always, just kinda of let down by the material.

For those who want to know, the basic story is the main character is Isekai-ed to another world and made the champion of a goddess in a world that functions very similar to a tower defense game. Save the town from waves of monsters. Some adult content, but not to the point where every chapter is interrupted by it.

Overall, a story I enjoyed just wish I had heard version 2.0 of it.

Half way there..

I have been a fan of David Burke for some time now. So this comes from a place of personal opinion.

The overall story was interesting. I wouldn’t say it failed, however, it left something to be desired. I enjoyed the world that was built. Burke is very go in that sense as always.

The performance was decent. I am not sure if they rushed the release or what. These voice actors are typically highly professional. It might have been an editor issue. But there was multiple blips and inconsistencies In dialogue. It broke the immersion for me.

Lastly.. and this is a personal preference that will probably get me into trouble… The main ladies seemed to be borderline street walkers.
From the many partners and ex-lovers used to build a back story for these women, that are to be a love interest for the MC. As well as, the way they state I love sucking…… explicit. Not the MC just doing that in general. I couldn’t get into that. So ok you’ve had a lover before. Or a couple. From the way at least two of these ladies sound as you get to know their characters. They bother already had loves of their lives. It didn’t workout long term. They decided to slang that thang until they ran into MC or couldn’t do it any longer because circumstances. So once again just not my cup of tea.

In the end. Is it worth the read in my opinion?
Maybe. If nothing that you heard turned you off so far then I’d say go for it. Since I used a credit I will also finish it. Out of respect for the authors work. I might give second book a go.

Thanks for reading.

Fantastic Re-record!

I thought the first edition of Tower mage was good but oh my gods are Daniel and Rebecca. just fantastic. I thought Daniel had given up harem but I'm very very pleased to see that he has not.

for me Rebecca clinches this one as she does with most books. she is my MVP.

Pretty good, could be better

Bit of a mixed bag here. This story has some very, very good parts, while in other places it feels boring and lacking.
The premise of the story is quite the usual, transmigrated MC set on a world with powers. The only difference being they have to fight against waves of creatures and build towers to defend against them. While it is interesting, i feel it's a very unexplored while at the same time we get a lot of bloat information about the whole ordeal.
Now the good about this story is the relationship aspect. While it could use a bit more spicy scenes for it's length, the characters themselves and their development was amazing. And it also stars some of the best conversations between people in a relationship I have seen as well as some very emotional scenes.
The ladies and their voice acting was quite amazing. The MC narration is also quite good, although some of his dialogue/traits can be a bit cringe, please no more "unleashing the beast".
Overall I did enjoy the story and would recommend the book to others, and I do hope the next one focuses on the more important aspects and what it did good.

He did it again!

David Burke has knocked another one out of the park. One of his trademarks is the skillful blending of spice, romance, magic/powers and politics (can't get away from politics). Then you add the voice talents of Wisniewski and Woods to the mix and you get this new story. I just hope book 2 isn't too far behind.
