When some friends decide to make a movie of a recent double murder, they don't realise that they may have bitten off more than they could chew!! One by one, the friends are getting scared and it's not long before they figure out that this movie may just kill them!

This is such a short listen that it's hard to go into too much detail about the plot other than to say that it was quite enjoyable. It had reminded me of the old school Scream movies and I think that's why I enjoyed it so much. I enjoyed the sense of "who was it" and liked the reveal at the end. The plot moves at a steady pace as well and I flew through it.

The characters were well written and were likable. There wasn't any character development, but I didn't expect there to be because it's a definite plot based story.

In all this was an enjoyable and quick listen. I thoroughly enjoyed the feel of the book and will definitely check out more by this author.

Shannon Cooper Harris did a good job with the narration. She was easy to listen to though I didn't find anything about her performance to be memorable. I felt like she needed a little more something to truly bring the story alive.

*I received a copy of this for review. This in no way affected my thoughts.*

Old school slasher feel.

The book was good , it had it's scary moments I was surprise to see that the killer was a best friend. The narrator was pretty good, the book reminded me of young people reading and that's not a bad thing.

A Quick Reading.

Would you try another book from Jerry Hart and/or Shannon Cooper Harris?

Maybe

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The book needed to be less formulaic. It was obvious who the red herring and villain were. I really didn't feel connected to any of the characters.

Not really scary

True Fans: Scout Galley, Book 1 is a clear homage to the slasher horror genre. It's filled with dark humor, suspense, and a few references to slasher flicks that only "true fans" of the genre will catch.
This is a short, fun story that is worth checking out.

An homage to slasher horror

What would have made True Fans better?

A total rewrite with a better plot, deeper characters, and definitely a new narrator.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm looking very forward to Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes (sequel to You) and I'm not sure what I'll listen to in the meantime.

Would you be willing to try another one of Shannon Cooper Harris’s performances?

Absolutely not. The narration, by far, was the worst aspect of this book. It was rushed and attempts at character voices were awful. Very annoying and distracting.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from True Fans?

Like I said, it would need a total rewrite. I would cut all the scenes.
