About this listen

Annie Lyncroft knew her scheme was outrageous. She'd come to the elegant penthouse to meet Oliver Rain, the richest and possibly the most dangerous man in the Pacific Northwest. Annie needed this sensual, secretive corporate maverick for what she was about to propose. Marriage! With her brother Danny missing after a mysterious plane crash, Annie is struggling to protect his hot electronics company from the sharks who think he's not coming back.

But fanciful, ethical Annie - who usually runs a bizarre bric-a-brac shop knows Danny's alive, and she's determined to keep his company safe by putting his biggest investor at the helm. When Oliver actually says yes to the marriage of convenience, Annie dreamily envisions a few platonic weeks of helping him become a sensitive New Age guy. Oliver has a different plan; his cold, gorgeous eyes have been watching Annie, and he sees his chance to seduce the beautiful schemer.

Love is the wild card destined to teach these two strong-willed opposites a lesson: icy control might run the business world, but all hell is about to break loose in the passionate territory of the heart.

Fifty shades of grey

After listening to this book, I am left with the sense that it was the model on which fifty shades of grey is based.

Excellent balance of intrigue and romance

Excellent balance of intrigue and romance. Well developed reasoning for why the hero has the problems he does and how the heroine is able to help him overcomes those personal problems. The villain is excellently unexpected; not a predictable end to the intrigue. The performances excellently done and it is easy to track who is speaking and what is internal monologue.

Note: There are a few cases where I kept thinking, “why don’t they just call or text each other”, then the end credits said this was originally written in 1993, before cell phones and the internet, so it’s not actually bad writing that they can’t communicate sometimes or just find information online.

An old favorite. Read many times, 1st time w audio.

While some may say this early Krentz novel has become dated over time, first published in 1993, it has always been a favorite of mine. The FMC is strong yet flexible. The MMC is rigid, alpha, & basically inflexible but he is also honorable, loyal, sacrificial and trustworthy. He’s a good man who has survived through adversity, creating for his extended family a very successful business. I enjoyed the Journey of the 2 MCs. Wildest Hearts has minimal misunderstandings, angst & drama with the conflict coming from the outside the growing relationship, instead of within which I prefer. I know I will enjoy this audio again in the future.

A Great KRENTZ Classic!!

I've enjoyed thus book many times since I first read it in the 90's. The audio version brings added depth to the characters and highlights the humor.

Truly wild

The challenges and the resulting solutions in this story are unique. The resulting love is crazy and definitely wild. The storyline is unusual but we'll thought out. Of all of her books this is one of the best

Wildest Hearts

Jayne Anne Krentz has written another best-selling novel. A strong, stubborn, sexy hero and a sweet, caring, sensitive heroine

real period piece

Originally published in April of 1993, parts of this story are obviously dated due to rapid technological advancements. -But- the basic themes of love, loyalty, duty, family, etc. remain valid.
This was one of her mass market paperbacks after Krentz broke away from her start in Harlequin writing category romance, along with the likes of Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, Elizabeth Lowell, Barbara Delinsky, Debbie Macomber, Fern Michaels, etc. And they all followed in the footsteps of Janet Dailey.
McFadden does a decent job of narration.
