About this listen

Grab your ax. Charge your core. Bash some skulls.

Logan Sharpe’s life has been a disaster, but that’s finally going to change. As soon as Incessant Technologies heard about his situation, they knew he would be the perfect fit for their new game. Only catch? Once he goes in, there’s no coming back. Without hesitation, he signs the paper and enters the new VRMMORPG world of Exodus Online as a Star Child. As an extra incentive, Logan is given a chance to become what he’s never been before. Something unique, something powerful.

Abandoning his old name to go with one that suits his new body, Necro is ready to start over. To face his new reality, Necro must learn to survive in a dangerous, unforgiving world. Even with the help of two daring women at his side, how will he fare while exploring deadly dungeons, facing power-hungry leaders, and leveling his new body?

The only certainty is this: Logan is dead, but Necro has risen.

surprisingly good

when I first started the book I was unsure about it because of the voice acting but as I continued to listen I really enjoyed the story and it turned out to be really good can't wait for the next one in the series.

A very strong opening to a new series

* book received for free

I think this is one of my favorite 2020 audiobooks that you're not expecting. I have to warn you this book will trigger you for suicide, and graphic torture. Now that that warning is out of the way this is one of the best openers to a new series that I've had a chance to read.

The book is well described, highly detailed, and well thought out. The leveling system makes sense and the MC Characters class is unique and very interesting, I look forward to seeing how it will grow in the future.

Overall as long as you have a strong stomach this is a. Very solid opening to a new series and I highly recommend it.

LitRPG as an Orc

Tusk and Blade is a pretty entertaining LitRPG, it isn't groundbreaking but it is the first time I have seen the main character be an Orc so that was pretty interesting and novel. As with most LitRPG the story isn't in itself amazing but the entire story is entertaining and quite enjoyable. The main character Necro is likeable enough even as an Orc although he does seem a bit OP to start for my tastes. There is enough humor and action to keep the story moving and the leveling and game mechanics work well enough. The narration by Alan Adelberg and Anneliese Rennie are done well and the production quality is really good, sometimes when you mix two narrators especially with dialogue between the two and not just separate chapters for them it doesn't come off well and isn't fluid but it seemed natural and worked quite well.

If you are a fan of LitRPG I would definitely give this a listen,

Great new LITRPG series and dynamic duo for narration!

A great start to a new LITRPG series and the two narrators deliver on the experience to immerse you in the story. Welcome to beta testing a new immersive experience. The catch? You are completely uploaded into the game and your body is destroyed in the real
World. When you have nothing left to lose, why not? The Mc necroscope redhammer is the first orc traveler. His pain levels are at the max and therefore so is his experience gains. His class unique to him and him alone for taking the permanent transformation to orc. The quests? Awesome! The battle sequences? Awesome! The rpg factor? Great, not too overbearing on stats but still delivers on the gaming experience. Enjoy it! I did. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Fun power fantasy

Author is really good describing fight scenes or moments of brutality. It’s a fun escape power fantasy that does have some growth for the main character, overall it is enjoyable but not a masterpiece.

Tusk and blade!!!!!

I love this book. I cannot wait for the second but to come out. There’s great care to development world building and the main character is just so much fun to listen to. The narration is some of the best work and it’s so fun to listen to. Sometimes I’m at work and I just want to yell out Tusk in blade lol

Decent for half a book

This is an odd series. Basically, the MC becomes the most brutish and violent version of himself that he can and rises in power because of it. It tries to fit the monster MC theme, but he feels a little too accepting of the death and dismemberment he casually partakes in. The quests/sub-plots are really weak. They seem more designed to present brutality then to develop a story. Maybe future books will improve on this.

This book is shorter than I realized when I bought it, and that is on me. If the series continues and they put out a box set, I may come back to it, otherwise this feels like another author putting out short works to pad their paycheck. Overall, I can't recommend this series.

1/2 good.

Should have a suicide warning for the beginning as some people are sensitive.

Female narration is horrifically bad like its recorded by Siri and doesn’t change voice really for the women she voices.
Male is a lot better and can do different voices for different people.

Story is interesting and a nice change having the MC be another race aside from human, the MC does makes strange choices that are hard to follow, such as being a brawler like class but naming the character necro, and I can’t quite figure out if he is a depressed nerd or a jock with anger issues, but nothing to bad.

The only thing that will truly hurt this book I think is it’s a little shorter than the page count would make me think, maybe if when the 2nd book gets narrated they offer book 1&2 together.

Received in exchange for an honest review.

Duel Narrators, Great Story, and Excellent Listen!

I love this story! I loved reading it and loved listening to it even more. Note: I still have some more to listen to but I don't think I'll stop listening until its done! I loved the duel narrators which really helped immersion. The narrators are doing a fantastic job with pulling me in and wanting me to keep listening. Their inflection and emotions are a great posative.

Story? What can I say about the story? Its amazing! When I first read it back in the day I couldn't put it down. Man, Lavelle can write and I can't wait for Book II to be on audible!
