Publisher's summary

A woman finds a body, and her life is overturned....

Under Your Skin is a gripping psychological thriller in which nothing can be assumed and no one should be trusted. "This morning, I found a body. Soon the police will arrest me for murder. And after that my life will fall apart."

Gaby Mortimer is the woman who has it all. But everything changes when she finds a body on the common near her home. Because the evidence keeps leading back to her. And the police seem sure she's guilty....

Under Your Skin is an unpredictable, exquisitely twisty story, which proves that there are only three rules in life that mean anything: Assume nothing. Believe no one. Check everything.

Hang in there!

Don't be put off by the detached voice of the narrator, cold like that of a news reader. Hang in there, and you'll be in for a big surprise. The voice will warm up, the pace of the events increase, and you will suddenly reach a surprising finale. I did not see it coming and that's what I expect from a good thriller. Very satisfactory listening.

IT BUILDS & BUILDS & GETS BETTER & BETTER !!

What does Tracy-Ann Oberman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

At first I wasn't sure I could listen to hours of her sort of gushy semi whispered fast speech, but it grows and grows on you until she seamlessly becomes the character and protagonist, Gaby Mortimer. By the end of the book, I could not imagine it being narrated successfully by anyone else.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I purchased this book about six months ago, and like most audiobooks I buy, I did not re-read the summary to remind myself why I purchased it. The main character, Gaby, spent a lot of time in the early ⅓ of the book doing a lot of navel gazing about herself, her career as a TV daytime host, and her love life with her husband. One day, while out running she finds the body of a murdered young woman on the common and from here the story starts to build and become really interesting. By the time I was half way through the book, I found it hard to put down, not having any idea where it was heading.

Any additional comments?

This is a first class mystery suspense story which is extremely well written; the prose, intelligent and descriptive. The main characters are very well fleshed out and totally believable. This book is so much more that just a murder mystery; it explores the relationship between a husband and wife and how it changes over time and many other themes are explored as well; friendship, loyalty and the meaning of life. I thoroughly recommend this book to those you enjoy well written prose and multilayered themes.
