Top-Notch Dramatic Historical Romance from a Rising Star

A volunteer for the newly established Weather Bureau, Sophie van Riijn needs access to the highest spot in her village to report the most accurate readings. Fascinated by Dierenpark, an abandoned mansion high atop a windswept cliff in the Hudson River Valley, Sophie knows no better option despite a lack of permission from the absent owners.

The first Vandermark to return to the area in 60 years, Quentin intends to put an end to the shadowy rumors about the property that has brought nothing but trouble upon his family. Ready to tear down the mansion, he is furious to discover a local woman has been trespassing on his land. Instantly at odds, Quentin and Sophie find common ground when she is the only one who can reach his troubled son.

There's a light within Sophie that Quentin has never known, and a small spark of the hope that left him years ago begins to grow. But when the secrets of Dierenpark and the Vandermark family history are no longer content to stay in the past, will tragedy triumph, or can their tenuous hope prevail?

Good story

This was a good story. Not too many surprises and a bit too religious for my tastes in a novel but a good story.

Quentin's irascible behavior is difficult to understand

I have enjoyed many of Laura Frantz 's books. and there are some I didn't really like. This one is interesting and the setting is amazing. But it isn't one of my favorites.

Until dawn

Elizabeth Camden did it again and another wonderful story with lots of history about something I never thought about very interesting. Very good storyline never fails to amaze me what she can take and make a great story out of and narrator can either make or break a book. This one did a great job.

Love Story for an Atheist

This is a inspiring parable, comparing a Christian, an atheist and a mystic. The plot is so good , the reader might miss the spiral truths Elizabeth Camden weaves into the lives of Sophie and Quinten.

Sophie loves Dierenpark, an abandoned mansion high atop a windswept cliff in the Hudson River Valley,. It has been her home and work in setting up a rooftop weather station for her work with the newly established Weather Bureau. When Quinten arrives to destroy the mansion, God showers the estate with His redeeming love.

Very Religious- a Christian novel

I was surprised when I delved into this book and realized it was a Christian novel. The first half of the book, you can't really tell, but as the story continues it becomes highly steeped in Christianity and religion. It's still a decent story, and was entertaining. I just thought a disclaimer might be appropriate for a more selective listener.

Sweet story.

This is an inspirational story so it does deal with a bit of religion. If you don't like that, then don't read this story. I found it refreshing without it being too preachy. The story was sweet and deals with a love affair that begins at an unusual beginning. It takes you to an easier time, or should I say slower time when drinking lemonade on a front porch was the thing to do for an afternoon.

The narration is wonderful as well. Stina Nielsen did a good job portraying all the characters.

Great book!

Well rounded faith based stories dealing with real life and peoples imperfections! I like how the faith was transforming but not unrealistic or fake
