About this listen

Diviner Alex Verus and the Council that governs the magical community have never gotten along. But with his former teacher back in Britain, Alex is in desperate need of allies, and he'll do whatever it takes to get them - even if it means accepting a job with the Keepers, enforcing magical law. Alex forms an uneasy alliance with his new partner, Caldera, but his attempt at legitimacy quickly turns lethal when a mission puts him in possession of an item that factions both inside and outside of the Council would kill to get their hands on.

Once again caught in the middle of a deadly conflict, Alex will need all his abilities to figure out who his friends are - especially when enemies are hiding on all sides....

Great edition to a great series

I thought this was one of the better of the series. It had a touch of mystery and a thrilling action. It was, however, not one easily understood with reading the previous installments.

Solid verus book

Another Alex Verus story. If you liked the other ones, you'll like this one. As always Gilbert Jackson's narration is perfect.

This book seems to be setting up the next large (multi-book) arc, so it suffers a little bit from having to move so many plot elements around with out revealing too much about them.

Too much mage politics and squabbling

I love this series, but the dialog gets a bit tedious when mages start to squabble. More magic, less arguing, please!

Great story that doesn't fail to please!

If you have gotten this far into the Series you already know that each book doesn't fail to please and this one is no different! Things are changing in the mage world and Alex is too. With each book we get closer to Alex finding his destiny. Where will he end up? I don't think he can stay independent forever or will he be on the side of the light or dark? who knows? can't wait for the next installment

Jim Butcher is my favorite but this comes second

I was recommended to this series on the Jim Butcher’s site. Glad I started the series. I enjoyed the books and the characters.

No right or wrong way

One of the reasons why I enjoy this book so much is because it does not wrap the story up in a nice little bow. That course is not to say that all books do that but it is important to show that no matter what you choose it does not always work out. Another reason to enjoy this series of books is that this character is not afraid to admit when he is scared or when he does not have all the answers and seek out help. I have to say this, some people will know what or who I speak about, when I say he not scared to say literary "Hey she more powerful than me" and his manhood is not affected by that statement. You have not read this series books please read it, your money will be well spent.

I'm fully impressed and addicted!

I want the comicbooks. I want the movies! I haven't been this strung out since reading Uncanny Xmen back when I was a kid!

Can't get enough!

This is my third time through. I recently found the books in paperback as well. I dive into this world as easily as sliding into my favourite jumper. Especially in the holiday season it's a good escape and I lose myself in the words.

Veiled : A Alex verus book

What an intense read/Audible this book had me on the edge of my seat so much happened some tragic some just kind blowing . Plan's where brought to fruition and those who sought power fell and others achieved their own bid for that same power . Mortan and Richard has finally achieved what they set out to a seat on the mage council and things will never be the same again what will happen next no one knows but for Alex and crew it won't be good .

Another good one!

The Alex Verus series never fails. I just wish I didn't have to wait a year for another one. Great performance like always and the story advances in a very interesting direction. If you're a fan, you'll love it.
